Ordered all four sets immediately, been way too long since my last Blake's 7 fix. Ordinarily I'm not a big fan of recasting, however when the original performer has the opportunity to return and doesn't wish to do so, then I don't see any problem with recasting the part, just as long as the recasting itself is appropriate and well done. Hopefully Yasmin Bannerman does well, and convinces in the role of Dayna, and I wish her well, even though personally I was secretly hoping for Angela Bruce if a recast was on the cards. Now if only they could do a deal with Boucher for series D access... Yasmin will sound young though - Dayna is a girl. Angela Bruce's voice was too mature to be cast as her in the first place. I agree with that. Angela Bruce is a terrific, lovely actress, but Yasmin Bannerman is, I think, much better suited to Dayna. There are similarities in the voice beween her and Josette (Simon, not Du Prez!) which didn't really exist with Angela. Good that Josette's turned down the chance to return so amiably, too. And - yes, I absolutely agree with Series D. On television, I think it contained my favourite and least favourite moments from Blake's 7 - quite a spectrum. I'd love to hear an extension of it. And a Travis story. I really want a Travis story! This is all great news. It will take a ridiculous amount of self-discipline not to order all forthcoming audios. And we've still yet to learn which early Big Series is yet to make a comeback. Exciting times.

I'll take two if it means we can have both a Greif and Pacey story and a Croucher and Pacey story.
Travis and Bayban?? Could we fit that?

All of these things should and must be done! Can I just roll out my regular 'can we have a Grief/Croucher story going some way to explaining Travis's double persona please' request? Probably more suited to a Liberator Chronicle, I think, so maybe the chance has gone.

She's barely changed since she was on television!
I've got a picture of me and Slave somewhere. At least, I think it was Slave. It might just have been an old bucket.

I don't agree with that at all, I thought she did a great job in the BBC audios back in the day. Personally, from what I've seen and heard I also think she has more range as a performer, too, but to each their own. As to the age thing, Bannerman is 44 or so now, Bruce was about 48 when she took on the role in the BBC audios, so there's really very little difference there as far as 'voice maturity' goes at the start of each performer's journey with the character. I'd also argue that having one character sounding far younger than the rest of the primary cast now could potentially be a distraction on audio, rather than a benefit anyway. But regardless, the choice has been made, and as I said, I wish her all the best.

Wonderful news! That was a big regret of mine not getting into the B7 series until last December, because I was thinking it must have been so much fun to have been paying attention back when B7 releases were coming out fast and furious, but today I am finding out firsthand how much fun that is - I was fervently wishing for one new release and they announce four, hooray!! Bundle bought!
I'm guessing Yasmin will make a fine Dayna, and I was even more delighted to hear that the role has special meaning for her. Welcome aboard!

Yeah, the bundle was 80, which works out to five quid an episode, so I can't complain about that. I mean all in all that's still cheaper than even the sub price per episode of the last full series. So more Blake's 7 (finally), and for less money down, to boot. Can't say fairer than that.
I know that some aren't too keen on the boxed set format, but for me, it's all good news.

Ok kimalysong, I admit it, there is a trend starting to appear on box set pricing. Thankfully it's not across the board though. The bundles do now seem to give more value. This and Torchwood are two cases where I may well pay for the whole bundle when the first set comes out, which is something I haven't done before.
And does anyone else think its a bit syrange that series 3 is one box set while series 4 is three box sets? I wonder if the latter three have some common storyline running through them.

First off, exciting news which is much greater in size that I could have hoped. I'm glad to see they have moved on and replaced Dayna. With the current state of cast members continuing without that character would really seem to make life really difficult in building a full casy series of audios. Bundles really do seem the way to go at the moment and that is what I'll be doing. Soon. $160.00 US is something I need a little time to budget for.

It does seem box sets are getting 5 more expensive. Based on previous forum activity, it has been a while since the last price increase? It is nice, though, that the bundles retain the 5/hour price so it is possible to save money by paying early / buying a lot. (Shame that the Tony & Cassandra Mysteries is a one-off, with not a big cast to justify a higher price.) Although it doesn't solve the problem of people preordering months in advance paying the same price as people preordering the month of release. It is also a smart move for this to start with "new" (not-ongoing) ranges. How that changes over time, we shall see.

Recently bought the new Torchwood bundle and the Tony and Cassandra boxset,of course a bundle works out cheaper, but it is not always possible to cough up the money all at once in this case another 80 FOR Blakes 7.So 25 definitely is the new boxset DL price. Must be Brexit!!!!

(Some bundles give no savings over the pre-order prices of their contents.) Although, yes, there is the problem that many can't afford the price of a bundle at once.

Yasmine Bannermen certainly has Dayna's vocal patterns down right. It made sense in-universe (Avon being Avon), but I always thought it was a bit of a shame that Series C largely steered clear of the war's fallout. The destruction of Star One would have likely killed thousands and a desperate, almost frenzied galactic police state is a frightening prospect. I think the only thing worse than the Federation still being in control is the Federation pretending it's in still control while everything crumbles around it.
(Also, why is it that everything that wants to murder us seems to come from the Andromeda galaxy?)

Well it is, but I like to wait till a titles released and use the 10% discount, which I can't do with bundles. Still we are still getting some 20 pound sets,it just feels like the balance is tipping.
