Slightly off-topic but I have to thank Big Finish for giving Derek Jacobi's Master a beard (not sure why beards were considered too cheesy for a few years... I have a beard!). It also canonises the look me and my brother gave him years ago (around the time the Utopia "Dr. Yana" figure was released) albeit slightly older: Later updated around (2012 or 2013 to have a coat): I haven't been getting the latest Doctor Who ranges in full recently as there are far too many DW ranges for one man and I focus on 'Dark Shadows' but this is a must get as Derek Jacobi has been a favourite actor of mine since I saw him in 'I, Claudius' when I was probably too young to be watching 'I, Claudius'. He was great in his few minutes as the Master in Utopia and I had always hoped for some sort of flashback episode or audio drama. It is a shame he can't appear with his Doctor though (due to the sad passing of one of everyone's favourite actors, John Hurt) but maybe they could do a dramatic reading like they do for Dark Shadows where the Master tells as story that features the Doctor? I also tended to "headcanon" him as overlapping with McGann's Doctor (the only Doctor I presumed he was in the Time War with until the War Doctor's creation) also so you could do that (though that may not be possible if there is already another Master earlier in teh War Doctor's reign), as long as they don't make him become Yana before the War Doctor's era as Jacobi vs Hurt is far too awesome even if it is just in our heads. Sorry if this post is too much of a shameless plug and/or slightly off topic.

Nobody suspects a child to be villainous. Easy way to conduct evil deeds. Yeah but at the time he's in this body he's fighting against the Daleks in the Time War, who can recognise him as a Time Lord anyway. The Daleks probably think he is weak in that body.

Just got around to reading the Big Finish news item on this.
The last paragraph says:
Um, that's not a savings over the pre-order prices of these releases.
I'm guessing they mean it will be a savings after the releases go to full price, but it's more than the current pre-order prices of these releases.
They should really be more clear in these news releases. It's not the first time Big Finish has done that.

The individual releases are each 20 on download or 23 on CD.

As clear as how many DVDs you get for £5 when an offer is the same?

War Master, Gallifrey Time War and Tales of New Earth. Yes, I saw that without your spelling it out for me. But it wasn't clear from the news item about the War Master. I suddenly wondered if I'd been clear enough on my earlier post. I wouldn't want anyome thinking I was saying there were 3 War Master releases planned (although here's hoping)

I honestly didn't see that there were 3 releases at first either. In my excitement I ordered the War Master right away. Then I saw there were 2 other releases and I went back and ordered Gallifrey. Then I saw that there was a bundle and thought maybe I should have ordered that to save money but I decided I was going to wait on the New Earth release.
Anyways my point is sometimes it is easy to miss things when you are excited.

Yup. Now that I know what the deal is, I'll be getting the bundle.

Is it too soon to start thinking about a three Master team-up? Beavers, McQueen & Jacobi. Bring. It. On. Big. Finish.

Yeah. That was indefensible nonsense though, even more so than the Delgado regen in DWM. Am I the only one who likes the idea of a child Master? I actually like the idea. I also think that the original idea was that it was a young version of Jacobi (lining up with his story about being found as a child and explaining why the Doctor wouldn't recognize him), but Big Finish or the BBC or somebody asked them to make it a separate incarnation so that Jacobi could be the War Master. We know Titan's coordinated with Big Finish before, so I don't think it's too outrageous of an idea.

I quite like the theory – can't claim credit for it – that the Hughes Master is the Time War child body Master being re-indoctrinated by the CIA, hence why none of the prior Masters mention those drums that the post-Time War Master was obsessed with. It doesn't quite fit, but it's a decent fix to that odd RTD decision to have the Master motivated by something he'd never mentioned before.
