It’s delightfully non-linear and subjective, which is exactly how it should be. Personally, I interpreted the War Master series taking place much later on in the Time War, with him travelling back to the Time War’s earlier days (in a linear sense) to assist in Gallifrey: Time War. Yes, exactly!

So who do we expect to play Rassilon?
Personally I would like Don Warrington, but I am guessing it will be someone new. If so who will it be?
And the other thing I keep wondering is when will we hear him?
Could Rassilon be in the next Eighth Doctor : Time War boxset?

I think it’d be a lovely little note to longtime fans if Warrington came back.
That said, there’s something to be said for a fresh take. It’s a new story, a new context, new storytelling, etc., so bringing on someone new may well be the best idea.
Either way, I’m sure whoever they pick will do a great job.

I would like to begin with that Its Don Warrington when they do bring him back from the Divergent Universe, then after a short while he Regenerates into a new form, who we get for the rest of the series, then he regenerates in Dalton that we see in The End of Time

The great thing is, however they move forward if they asked Dalton or even Warrington and both said 'no' they haven't backed themselves into a corner!

If the events from this boxset result in a "new" Rassilon will that mean there are now 2 Rassilons in existence, one on Gallifrey fighting the Time War and the other still stuck in the Divergent Universe?

Presumably, yes. We haven’t heard from the other one since he and Kro’ka were looped back to the start of the Divergent Universe, and the one in this set was created by ‘modifying’ Valerian with backup data in the matrix.

Regarding Rassilon...
A thought struck me the other day who I would like as Rassilon - Timothy West
He has worked with Big Finish, can be suitably Shakespearean and has a great voice.
Although given Big Finish current fondness for the older lady....it will probably be Jane Asher! (Who I see has recently worked with BFP)

You’re right it’s wonderfully subjective, because I always thought of “Under the Viscoid” as being very “early” in the War with the Daleks being clever and tactically trying to take out certain dangerous Time Lords before declaring War properly. But by the time of “the Good Master” it’s been raging for long enough for the Master to have become fatalistic about it and him just wanting to run and hide.

I always felt like Sound of Drums and End of Time made it sound like the Master left pretty early on in the war. The Master seemed to have no idea how bad the war eventually got.

Oh that's disappointing, if true - as it has that cliffhanger at the end. Wait n see. I thought i read or heard there was going to be 4 boxsets. I can't remember where
Perhaps 2019 is already too overloaded for them in terms of what they are releasing
Perhaps in 2020, we might see a Time War 2

There’s definitely been a second set recorded, as they’ve had the cast and Scott Handcock in the studio recording. This comes from tweets and Instagram stories.

Got to this today in my Gallifrey re-visit in advance of Time War 2....man, what a terrific set this story is. Every plot step, every little cliffhanger, every development, the conclusion of each episode, it's all so terrifying, so emotional, so tragic, such the inevitable march toward horrors inconceivable.
I am so stoked for Volume 2.
