We're coming up to three years since the first set, I wouldn't describe a second one as inevitable. We could’ve said the same about Lady Christina, until a second set was announced out of the blue a few months back. I don’t think we’ve ever been told there won’t be a second set, Georgia seems to have had a great time recording (and did Relative Time too), was fondly reminiscing the set on Instagram when it was on sale a couple of weeks ago, and a second set has the advantage of likely involving David. I agree that three years is a longer gap than usual for Big Finish, but I don’t think this is dead in the water. Georgia has children to look after, so I’m sure isn’t as readily available as other actors. Let’s be honest, if it wasn’t for her, I don’t think we’d have gotten 19 productions recorded by David during lockdown! Time will tell, it always does.

I really enjoyed the Jenny set and was excited for more, but now it has been so long since that first set I think Big Finish will need to show some commitment to the range and announce more than just another set for me to invest.
Three box sets, each containing three stories with the possibility of a Doctor appear in the final set would certainly get my pre-order!

I didn't exactly have high expectations for this set, as I remember The Doctor's Daughter as being a somewhat middling episode, but I wound up enjoying it quite a bit. It feels very Star Warsy, relishing in its own heightened campiness, while still taking itself seriously. As a result it manages to stay dramatic while still being consistently humorous (a balance I think tends to be very hard to keep for most "funny" stories).
I loved the fast-paced action, snappy dialog, and the fact that they make it clear that Jenny has had "off-screen" adventures. Very often the recurring characters and organizations in Doctor Who can make the universe feel small and restrictive, and this went a long way to produce the opposite feeling--like Jenny, I was excited at the breadth of the universe that was just begging to be explored, where anything might happen.
Also, kinda surprised Jenny wound up being so genre-savvy. I love it. Not sure it completely makes sense for a character who was almost-literally born yesterday, but I still love it.
Im definitely excited to see her again--I think BF has hinted at a second second set, right?--and hope we can get more standalone stories like this, that don't rely on recurring elements.

I was always under the impression that the first set proved popular. As I’m I. We’re not exactly privy to Big Finish’s accounts so maybe it just didn’t sell enough to warrant a second set? That or they’ve just had issues with scheduling? In any case, I’m surprised we got an announcement of a second volume of Lady Christina before this.

I think scheduling is a valid one. Realistically whilst David has been recording for Big Finish in lockdown, it wouldn’t be feasible for Georgia; she’ll be looking after the kids and probably making sure they’re not trying to storm the makeshift studio!
And in Big Finish’s eyes, who are privy to sales, if it was a toss up between David and Georgia, it’d be the former every day of the week.

Wasn't Georgia Tennant pregnant with another child not long after the first box set released?

She had her fifth child in 2020. I imagine with lockdowns and all those kids at home, on top of scheduling their professional lives, she and David have their hands full.

Plus Georgia didn’t just perform in the first set, she was credited with producing it along with David Richardson. So if they wanted to do that again, she’d presumably have to dedicate time for pre-production stuff too.
