Alexandre Dubach's recording of Paganini's Violin Concertos.
As someone who studied to play violin as a youngster, Dubach's violin is a rare treat. He's a true virtuoso playing some of the most difficult and innovative pieces ever written for violin. Paganini himself was a virtuoso with the violin, and his concertos changed forever the way the violin pieces were written and played.
Nota bene: There exists a YouTube video that presents this recording.

Yer So Bad is one of the better tracks from Petty. (I rather disliked "Free Fallin' from the first time I heard it, prior it being a single release and was appalled that it ended up being like the "song of the year" ) I also was partial to another "Y" title from Petty, You Come Through.

Tindersticks - billed as an alternative rock band by Wikipedia, but I find their style of morbid, mumbled melancholia difficult to define. One thing, though - I love them. I've been listening to nothing else over the last few days, but in many ways the self titled second album is my favourite.

The Who - WHO. Their best album in... 40 years+. The writing is mostly very sharp and Daltrey's voice is totally on point. An unexpected gem, and probably my favourite album of the year.

A batch of some of the best albums ever made: Rush Caress of Steel, Jethro Tull Minstrel in the Gallery, ELP Tarkus, Yes Relayer, and Gentle Giant The Power and the Glory and Octopus. Kickin' a$$ with class, every one of 'em. You betcha!
