Does ayone else ever feel that they need to sometimes take a little break from Big Finish / Who? Don't get me wrong, I love the company and their products, but I feel I'm getting swamped with a backlog of things to listen to - I'm just buying and listening to them to try keep up to date, ploughing through one audio after another, rather than really savouring each one. I'm going to try to have three or four Big Finish-free weeks, and will hopefully return with renewed enthusiasm and a clearer mind. Is this just me, or do you sometimes take a break too? (And again, this is no criticism on the company, I LOVE what they do).

The second that a pastime or hobby starts to feel like a chore, taking a break is well advised in my opinion. Do some other things for a bit, and come back when you feel like doing so, when your desire to listen to something draws you back, not just to try to keep up with a breakneck release schedule, or the latest conversations. The stories aren't going anywhere in the meantime.
Pretty much all my hobbies tend to ebb and flow quite a bit, and I think that kind of outlook is why I never really get burnt out on any of my own recreational pursuits over the long term, I just follow how I feel and what I'm drawn toward doing at any given point in time. After all, if hobbies aren't fun and an escape from work and routine, what's the point? So, yeah, what you're feeling is all pretty normal I'd say.
Enjoy your time off, and when you do start up again, hope you find the fun returning right along with you.

My budget limits how much I can buy, so realistically can't buy enough to get overwhelmed.
Although I am working my way through the BF on Spotify. There's a lot of that and there have been some that I haven't listened to all the way through. I feel less inclined to finish them all because I haven't paid for them individually.

I listen to the releases in bursts, I can go a week when I listen to 10 releases and then go 6 weeks listening to none.
I listen when the mood takes me, and when it doesn't I don't.
Whilst my pattern may not be quite the thing for anyone else, I do recommend only listening when the desire takes you, not to some form of schedule.

Do I feel I need a break from BF? No. But do I wish I had more Time to enjoy every new BF release I buy as each one fully deserves, right down to the extras? Yes. And do I have a backlog treasure trove of as-yet-unheard releases? Of course! (Plus yesterday's CC sale order, to make matters worse even better... ) Being serious for a moment, if anything that should be fun starts to feel like work, then it's time for a break.

i tend to listen to complete releases these days, i listen to the main range trilogy's once they are released, same for 4th doc, often i go weeks without listening to anything doctor who related..... and this week is the first doctor who release i have listened to since the gender politics tainted the show for me.
i go back and forth between catching up on radio 4 comedies and audio-books too
so yes i take a BF break and comeback as and when the mood takes me, but nothing conscious.

There's always large gaps between BF releases for me, so it depends on when i buy them. I always listen to them as soon as i buy them, but because i know Ive only got that small batch i can still savour them

Does ayone else ever feel that they need to sometimes take a little break from Big Finish / Who? No!I don't buy everything Big Finish release anymore so I have no backlog. Although I do love to go back and re-listen to stories, especially old Doctor Who main range releases, so every week I listen to at least one Big Finish release. It's more a way of life now as opposed to a hobby, so taking a break has never crossed my mind.

I do in fact I am taking a slight one right now. I still have the 3rd Doctor Adventures to listen to this month but I've been listening to non-Big Finish stuff at work this week.

Yes. My wallet can't really take any more at the moment. Recent purchases, The Skin of the Sleek, The 3rd Doc Adventures Vol 3 & Aliens Among Us Part 1. Haven't listened to any of them yet!

I certainly have to take a break from anything and everything from time to time, Big Finish included. But that's a good thing. When you come back to it- because, chances are, you will, you'll have a few new things to listen to as well as the older, loved stories. Taking a break from Big Finish isn't a bad thing. Neither is coming back to it!

No.
I do listen more sometimes and less other times, but it has nothing to do with taking a break. Then again, I'm someone who has no problem enjoying my favorite things again and again. For example, I've reread The Silmarillion/LOTR every few years for the last twenty years. I'm almost done with my third consecutive chronological re-listen through the MR and other BF Who episodes with an active voice role for a Doctor.
I give things just enough time that I forget enough to make things partially new all over again.
I think I'm due for another Hemmingway/Steinbeck/Fitzgerald reread in a few years, in fact.
I'd wish for more hours in the day so I could consume even more, but I think we all could guess what reality would fill them in with: work.

Sometimes a break can be a very good thing. I had a Big Finish burn out in 2013 and haven't listened to anywhere near as much since.
I have been listening since Sirens of Time back in 1999 and for a long time made an effort to listen to most BF output.
Over the years my interest in some of the Doctors has started to wane . I've had trouble retaining my love for releases from the 6th, 7th and 8th Drs since the departure of Evelyn, Hex and Charlie from their respective eras. The overloaded 50th anniversary year is probably still having an impact too.
As silly as it sounds, the introduction of New Series releases in 2015 gave me the excuse I needed to be ok with not wanting to collect everything. I'm also glad that the Last Adventure was released when it was as it felt like a capping stone to Colin's era.
I've managed to find a balance that suits me by focusing mainly on the ranges/eras that I always love hearing. Anything with the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th Drs and the Time War, Gallifrey and Benny sets are still instant buys for me, with the occasional extra release that peaks my interest as the Dying Room did recently.
I've also found that switching between audio companies can help too. Sometimes I'm in the mood for a Big Finish Companion Chronicle, sometimes a Magic Bullet Kaldor City/Faction Paradox story and sometimes a BBC production like a Mark Steel Lecture or The Complete Smiley.

I can't take a break I've only just caught up (except for discontinued items) My super-sub still has along way to go and there's new volumes of Survivors and Countermeasures on the way along with Torchwood and the Omega Factor and... ..and I'm addicted

My primary media consumption is audio related, be it music or podcasts or audio drama. So I might go several weeks without listening to any Big Finish and then the mood hits me and I attack a lot of audios. I will say that since I recently purchased my first iPad I have started using the Big Finish app quite a lot and have gotten a little more regular in my listening. Anyway, I think you do something for as long as you love it and if the desire wanes, then maybe a break is a good thing.
