So, just to get things straight, the First Master has met: the First Doctor ( The Destination Wars), the Second Doctor, ( The Home Guard), probably the Fourth Doctor judging by Twitter (in an as-yet unconfirmed story), and now the Seventh in The Psychic Circus. He gets around a bit, doesn't he I'm surprised Dorney hasn't been along yet to point out that Dreyfus isn't actually the 'first' Master...
Did somebody call?

I presume those are the full synopses - bear in mind they've got to fit on the back of the CD cover, which is harder with a 2x2 story. Quite like the look of these two - nice to hear Angela Bruce again, and Niamh McGrady is a criminally underrated actress.

Interstitial/Feast of Fear also now has a Trailer Online Regards mark687 Interesting that only Blood on Santa's Claw is left unfilled with any detail. Just shows how quickly 2019 has flown by! This also has to be one of the earliest points where we know a lot about the forthcoming release schedule (we are practically at March 2020 now for the MR). The trailer sounds for Interstitial/Feast of Fear sounds good. I think BF trying to revive two part stories is quite a smart move - the use of the two parter with Black Thursday/Power Game made that release one of the stronger ones of the Kamelion trilogy. As Davison did use this style in his era, this approach is nothing out of the ordinary there. Hopefully, this will be a better trilogy and whilst we hear some of Marc's dialogue, he is still kept quite low key - I am guessing that DWM/BF will do a feature soon as September is looming. This is looking like a stronger end to 2019 release-wise. Seems to be the reverse of the past few years where January-June has been ok, but slipped in the later releases.

I love The Greatest Show in the Galaxy and I’m rather keen on the idea of a prequel to it, as there’s untapped potential there. I’m less keen on putting The Master in there, as I’d say the Chief Clown is enough. I’m not a big fan of the James Dreyfus Master for similar reasons to not being a big fan of the Alex MacQueen incarnation. For me, they’re rather generic and sort of derivative of the character, created at a time when they only had Geoffrey Beevers. That’s just my view, though! As I've said elsewhere, I agree that there is untapped potential with The Greatest Show. Personally, I would have preferred that BF went with the Norse-mythology approach rather than the Master. Similarly, at least the Chief Clown is not the Master (as would have been the temptation for JNT - Imagine Ainley in awful disguise and an anagrammatic name that is easily spotted!) Never heard the Dreyfus version, but having seen Dreyfus in other work, I think he could pull off a sinister enough job. Personally, I would have preferred Beevers as, with the exception of Delgado, he is *the* Master that is the most malevolent (Jacobi comes a close second) without being overtly pantomime. Still have reservations about sequel-itis. BF can tell enough amazing stories without needing to redo older ones. If Mags does return, it would be nice to see her character develop away from the TV stories.

I think Greatest Show had enough in it to sustain a sequel/prequel without the addition of the Master (and I thought that before the controversy erupted surrounding Dreyfus). But the new story is by the original writer so imho we have to respect his choices in a way we would not have to if it was a different writer.

I agree that we need to respect the original writer of the story. My fear (and it is probably me) is that we end up with a re-tread of the original story with the Master driving events instead.

Interesting article on the upcoming Fifth Doctor run of stories in the new Vortex. I didn’t know that Tartarus was an extended two parter, like Resurrection of the Daleks originally was: 2x50 minutes. I like the complete format shakeup in these three releases.
The other stories sound really good and varied. I like the premise of Conversion, where the Doctor has recently lost Adric to the Cybermen and has since acquired a new male companion that he’s determined to protect.

That sounds good about the 2 x 50 minutes. I think it works better as the story develops and you do not need to waste time trying to insert 'jeopardy' into the end of Part 1 - we know the Doctor is not going to die or the regulars be killed off - this was one of the minor flaws of the recent Sixie trilogy (the Doctor wasn't going to be exterminated or killed by a nasty squid - so why bother?!) Conversion also seems a highlight - wonder if he will succeed in protecting a new companion. That's going to be a good mystery - the 1st Doctor failed with a historical companion and maybe the 5th Doctor will also fail again against the Cybermen!

For one, it'd feel like an Adric rehash. For two, it'd be underwhelming a fate right after Adric chronologically and Bill in the show. For three, five hasn't had a long term original companion since Erimem. I'd like at least three trilogies before Marc leaves however they want him to go.

Am with you on that make it slight longer term journey for new companion Am still hurting that Sixies Mathew didn’t get a longer journey that would have made his final betrayal so much more impacting

I think that's probably what I don't like about these new companions like Daniel and Mathew, they're not likely in for the long haul which seems to make them sort of disposable, and by the time they end up conveniently sacrificed at the altar of dramatic purposes, they seem to end up as poor companions, and companions that really weren't around long enough to be impacted much by their parting of the ways with The Doctor no matter how dramatic.
I've recently been wondering whether to give their stories a re-listen and seem to be more inclined in the direction of just trying to exorcise the two from my head canon.
Between that and playing it close to the cuff with Kamelion and even Mags, I think it's making the MR a bit hit-and-miss for me, although I did much enjoy the Mags stories anyway, and it continues that every time the MR gives us a good story it's a great one, IMHO.

Sounds good. Hoping that this is going to be a much better trilogy than Jan-Mar. The stories seem, if the trailers to be believed, of a better quality and Davison seems really engaged in this one. The inclusion of a new companion does add another angle, but it seems a more 'adult' tone to the Fifth Doctor is being gradually introduced with these releases (especially Intersitial/Feast of Fear and Warzone/Conversion). Definitely getting more of a Season 21 vibe with this than a Season 20 one though. This seems the route that the Fifth Doctor may have gone down had Davison done a Season 22 (with Peri replacing Tegan - I would be guessing that there would have been 'enough' antidote at the end of Androzani for both, but the Doctor, having nearly lost 'another' companion, would have been damaged by the experience somewhat and been less naive than he used to be.) Looking forward to this. Think the MR has picked up since July and looks like a strong back end to the year.

Nyssa and Tegan are great characters by themselves, we don't have enough stories where it is just the two of them.
