Oh damn, I've even tried to search the forum for River Song, and still could not find it, sorry. xD Thanks though!

Rule of thumb is that Doctor Who spin-off series go in the Worlds of Doctor Who Big Finish board, except for those spin-off series that have their own boards (Bernice Summerfield, Jago & Litefoot, and Torchwood).

Hearing the 5th Doctor cheerfully say, "DIE SCUM," is just tip of the iceberg as far as how darn good this is. Seriously, though, this was a hesitant purchase, and I feel rewarded. Furthermore this seemed like the most natural of the "River/obligatory meeting of Doctor to sell boxset" pairings thus far. Dorney makes writing great stories look easy.
Why is the 5th Doctor always the one that surprises me?

Darn him and his good nature and his celery!

Listened last week and really enjoyed it.
The Lady in the Lake was brilliant. Loved the Douglas Adams-esque take on the ethuansia facility and the take on regeneration was disturbing. The final twist with Lily was great, a real bolt out of the blue and yet fitting perfectly.
A Requiem for the Doctor was also fun. Seeing River in a more conventional companion situation was fun, as were her interactions with the fifth Doctor, and the plot was decent.
My Dinner With Andrew was the definition of complicated (hats off to Dorney for keeping the timeline together) and worked beautifully. Temporal shenanigans meets farce (Where else will you hear the fifth Doctor proclaiming 'DIE SCUM!'), with Kovarian stuck in the middle. Great stuff.
The Furies delivered the interactions between Kovarian and River and provided decent closure for River's origins.
All in all a great boxset.

AND YOU WILL OBEY ME: A nice little story that requires no context other than the knowledge that the doc is meeting an incarnation of the Master out of sequence (Beevers.) CLASSIC DOCTORS NEW MONSTERS VOL. 1: Fallen Angels is another fun romp you can jump right into, and it features one of the better appearences of the Angels. The entire box-set is worth it. THE PETERLOO MASSACRE: Historical. Nuff said! THE EMERALD TIGER: Personal favorite of mine that takes place in India. Great atmosphere.

Finally was able to finish up volume three and gosh it was a good one. Probably overall the strongest set thus far for me.

And while the Jenny theme is great, I still think I prefer the River main title music.

And while the Jenny theme is great, I still think I prefer the River main title music. The River one always sounds like it's ready loud in the mix. I'll have the volumae at the same setting to be normal for talking then the theme comes on and nearly blows the headphone speakers! The best BF themes of the past decade or so for my money are probably the original Counter Measures, The War Master and UNIT. I like the River theme...but nothing about it says "River Song" to me in the way that The War Master is a perfect theme to show crazy, balls to the wall sci-fi or Iris' original theme has that whimsy and charm that her adventures do.

The difference in volume became something of a problem for me. I was listening on a train so had the volume relatively high on my headphones to hear clearly...and then the theme blasts in at the end of the episode. Rip my eardrums. I think it suits her fine, bombastic and dramatic fits River to a tee, but just turn it down a tad. I'd add Jago & Litefoot's theme into that list of best themes. It captures the characters and the setting perfectly.

No other range has the issue and there are more than a few bombastic themes.

On a bit of a side note I am appreciating the “your listening to a Big Finish production” at the start of stories, because some audios can start quietly and It now stops me from turning the volume up too high.

As I've mentioned I seldom listen to BF right away these days, preferring to wait for the inspiration to hit me than just listening because something is hot off the presses, so I got through some of this set. I listened to My Dinner With Andrew earlier walking to work in 31 degree heat and it's instantly the best story in all 3 sets. Davison was hilarious as the title character and the "Die Scum" andro-Doctor. Real charm, bags of timey-wimey goodness, a fun guest cast and not too much Madam Kovarian! A real winner. Must mention though I also loved A Requiem For The Doctor - Jac Rayner wrote a lovely take on River in that. I loved Brooke calling out The Doctor and River for laughing just after someone they knew died. I always like that rare moment where characters realise the callous nature of The Doctor like the surviving crew of Bowie Base One fleeing in terror from him. It was an intriguing mystery too with the poison like a mood ring a fascinating concept.

Don't think it's been mentioned much if at all but I loved the casting of Nina Toussaint-White as The Second Brook. When it's revealed she's genetically based on River, how clever to cast the woman who of course played River's previous self, Mels in Let's Kill Hitler.

Awesome idea, to mix the old with the new, and it's just generally cool to see other incarnations meeting up with the new aliens, it makes the whole DW universe more immersive! ^^ Liked the Weeping angel story, just wonder how strong the angels really are - easily surviving a fall from the top of the Sixtus chapel? I thought they would break. :!
But by far my favourite was Eight with the sontarans - which was a really nice surprise, the sontarans being one of my least favourite races (and even though that hasn't really changed with this story, the Time War setting made it awesome).
Going to check out the rest too. ^^
