I really hope that they don’t go down the obvious route of TenRose happily ever after love and basically make these stories the stuff which fanfiction is made of. I mean, that would just be pretty boring and I think it would be more interesting and more realistic if MetaTen and Rose didn’t stay together because their relationship eventually crumbled due to a multitude of reasons, such as Rose always knowing that her Doctor is still in the other universe no matter how hard she tries to look past the fact that MetaTen is just a clone, and then the fact that MetaTen is probably significant different from normal Ten, considering he’s part Donna, there’s a chance that, that became a deal breaker or that MetaTen never even had the feelings for Rose that she had for him, or even that Normal Ten might have had for Rose. Now I know I just sound like a TenRose hater trying to find any way possible to decanonise that relationship - well that’s pretty much true to an extent. But I do genuinely think that giving them a happily ever after would be boring. I can easily imagine that Rose would continue working for Torchwood while MetaTen goes off to UNIT and they stop talking, except MetaTen continues to have a close friendship with Jackie which results in them having adventures together and possibly even running away in the Tardis. Maybe MetaTen will be like Clara, taking risks despite only being human because of the lifestyle to which they have become accustomed to. Considering it is indeed the Doctor, he could be getting itchy feet since he's so used to travelling where and when his fancy takes him. Loads of couples have broken up because they have different desires for where to take the relationship.

Both synopsises seem a bit bleak to me, but can you imagine the outcry if Rose got hurt, killed or pregnant as opposed to happily ever after in the literary sense? Regards mark687

Loads of couples have broken up because they have different desires for where to take the relationship. Maybe that's the reason for his 'death wish' as Jackie puts it, he's just bored. Also on the mention of UNIT, this being Pete's World there might simply be no such thing. All we really know about Pete's World is that Britain's a republic, Pete Tyler was a successful businessman, John Lumic created the Cybermen, Torchwood exists and there's a bay in Norway called 'Bad Wolf'. It's a pretty blank canvas for Big Finish to play with.

Regards mark687 I wouldn't want to see her killed off by Big Finish, but hurt or pregnant would be great. What if Rose gave birth to a kid destined to be the greatest threat to Pete's World since John Lumic and his Cybermen?

So what might have happened to this?

I don't know if this is relevant to it being postponed (cancelled?) but the description has been changed from "...only Jackie and the new scientific adviser stand in the way" to "only Jackie and a single friend stand in the way of it".

Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s being re-recorded, replacing the Doctor with Captain Jack or something to be honest.

That was my first thought but it's still listed as "a Meta-Crisis Doctor and Jackie Tyler story"

I think it's definitely a rights issue, although they're still offering it for pre-order so unless that's an oversight they must still be planning a release in modified form.

Perhaps the new management under Chibnall is a bit less willing to have Big Finish follow up on loose ends that the TV series might get to some day?

Perhaps the new management under Chibnall is a bit less willing to have Big Finish follow up on loose ends that the TV series might get to some day? Even so, would they really ask them to indefinitely delay them in the same week the first one is meant to come out? EDIT: Also, these were first announced well after Chibnall had started work on S10. Surely he'd have some kind of idea what BF were doing then?

While it’s odd, IIRC it’s not the first time a Short Trip has been held back. I’m sure a Fifth Doctor one was scheduled to come out a couple of years ago and then it got pulled from the schedule and it was only released recently (sometime last year, I think?), so it’s not the first time something like this has happened.

They've not just been held back, they've been indefinitely delayed just two or three days before the first one was meant to come out, and they've removed the trailers. Something's up here.

Whatever has happened, i can bet big finish will bury their heads in the sand and not comment on why its been delayed or cancelled (Coughcough The Steamie coughcough) Though i would like to be proved wrong.

That was The Toy and it was pulled so it could be an exclusive for The Complete History. This specific instance is unprecedented - I'm sure people subscribed for these stories. I wonder if this is a case where BF thought they had a license they didn't... Although the Beeb looks over all of these, don't they? Strange stuff. It's accurate to say the blurb has changed - but it's the mention of the Earth Defense organisation that's missing, not the mention of the Doctor. Maybe it strayed too close to Rose Tyler: Earth Defense, if elements of that were copyrighted as part of a pre-production process that went nowhere?

Well there's got to be a realease news piece for Turn which should refer the delay/cancellation?)

Hopefully we will get something along the lines of that, or even just a mention in the podcast. I’ll be disapointed if they do ignore it but i guess we’ll see soon enough.

To add to my previous post, I found the release in question: Trap For Fools. This news piece from November 2015 says that Trap For Fools was set for release later in the 2016 run, but it still hasn't come out yet, in fact, it's only just coming out this year in May. If you click the link for Trap For Fools in that news article, it takes you to A Full Life, which is what I'm assuming it was replaced with. So, yeah, it's not the first time a ST release has been postponed, but admittedly it's odd that the trailers have been removed for the Jackie ones...
