Maybe Harry invented the nerve toxin & then regretted it & asked the Doctor to intervene, it shows the character has vulnerability & can make mistakes.
Just loving Capaldis Doctor & the direction he's taking the Twelfth Doctor.
Overall a excellent gritty episode & possibly the most mature adult episode post 2005.

A lot of the imagery left a bad taste in my mouth (particularly at the end), in all honesty and felt tasteless and exploitative and the overall mesage of the episode was incredibly muddled by it.
WHAT THE HELL WERE MOFFATT AND HARKNESS THINKING? Actually I think they should be commended for walking that fine line. I don't think DW's been as brave in making a comment on real issues since Turn Left.

WHAT THE HELL WERE MOFFATT AND HARKNESS THINKING? I'm conflicted, since I feel like the plot was tight and well executed. But, the wife and I were constantly rolling our eyes and muttering; they were constantly beating the viewer about the head with "this is about ISIS, terrorism, and the current refugee crisis! Here's our political commentary on that." Now, sci-fi always has touched on or explored social issues, but usually the context is changed around. ie, Nightmare of Eden plays on the dangers of a heroin-like drug). Here, they just made "good Zygons" stand for "good refugees" and they made "bad Zygons" stand for "ISIS and domestic radicalization" Etc. At least they stopped short of having a "King and Country Act" that implemented invasive surveillance of the citizenry and a Zygon Snowden to leak its abuses.

If no-one has seen it, watch, Doctor Who and The Silurians!

If no-one has seen it, watch, Doctor Who and The Silurians! That's actually a good point. If we can forgive the Brig for blowing up the Silurians, surely we can forgive Harry for developing an anti-Zygon weapon.

All I said was that Harry Sullivan would not be involved in experiments that would harm anyone! It would be fair to say you never thought Harry would do such a thing, that you're shocked by the development and the character is now tarnished for you, but you can't say Harry didn't do it. We've been told in canon that he did. Coming up with a story that it was a surviving zygon in Harry disguise and that the toxin would actually target humans is also a potential way out.

The Brigadier never killed them! I'm pretty sure the reason the Doctor was furious at the end was because the Brigadier blew them sky-high.

Maybe Harry invented the nerve toxin & then regretted it & asked the Doctor to intervene, it shows the character has vulnerability & can make mistakes. One person suggested he thought he invented a "Zygon knockout gas" only for it to turn out to be, after thr next Zygon invasion, to be a nerve toxin. He uses the Space Time telegraph to call for the Doctor, voila stolen formula. howver, even if he did invent a nerve toxin in anger, there's no way if Sarah knew about it, she'd hold in high enough esteem to think about naming her son after him. So

I need to watch Doctor Who and The Silurians again, because I always thought that the Brig sealed the tunnels, entombing them, but the Doctor assumed because of the explosion that they had been killed

Yeah, but he was still mad about it at the beginning of Ambassadors of Death. I'm sure the Brigadier would have told him if they were still alive. Besides, didn't Eleven say that they were killed in Hungry Earth/Cold Blood?
