I'm going to be honest here. I think the nu-Who (if we must call it that) audios are possibly not for me. Not because they are bad in any way - they are, after all, brought to us by the same team who bring us many excellent productions from other eras of Doctor Who and outside of that. But I seem not be drawn to it in the same way I am by 'classic' Doctors and stories - it's possibly an age thing. Here we have David Tennant, veering expertly from silly to serious, the delightful Rose (Billie is an absolute favourite of mine) being slightly underwhelming. Jackie is also doing the kind of thing she did on television, with a like-minded, bullish friend. The story is a kind of cross between The Christmas Invasion and Vengeance on Varos, it seems to me. It has some good bits and some not so good bits, but ultimately feels kind of lightweight compared to other single-disc stories, happy to echo themes from it's television era than anything else. And it didn't grab me, I'm sorry to say. And I am sorry to say it, but it has taken me a long while to get round to listening to this. It's the same with the Eighth Doctor Time War series too. I'm not entirely sure why, but I think for me, the style of the post-2005 era is actually better suited to television, whereas the classic series lends itself better to audio. Or maybe I'm just not in the right mood for it. From the last Tenth Doctor set, I only ever listened to Death and the Queen more than once. There, I think the Doctor and Donna were terrifically written for and had a compelling story too. With Infamy of the Zaross, not so much. Just my opinion, of course!

Not a spoiler:
I kind of thought this while listening to this story and also a bit while listening to the next story in The Tenth Doctor Box set, The Sword of the Chevalier (which I haven't finished yet):
I don't think Billie Piper has quite found her voice as Rose in this box set so far. It's close, but it's not quite there. Which doesn't mean her acting isn't good, cause it is. She just sounds a teensy bit "off" as Rose.

Listened last night. A few really good moments, especially for Rose's mum. I figured out what was going on long before the Doctor did, but that didn't lessen the impact of the moment when the Doctor came to the realisation. Rarely does a DW story give you that sick feeling in your stomach of the wrongness of what is happening, but DT and the script together made that moment pack a gut punch.

Miracle of miracles, I managed to get a copy of the LP this morning! It looks like HMV are doing a general vinyl promotion today, so the big scrum of people already waiting when I arrived as the doors were opening were all browsing for other things (plus, there are very prominent 'one per customer' stickers on all copies, thankfully!).

Vinyl seems to be the 'in thing' for collectors these days. I wonder how many people buying these will actually play them?

Copies already on EBAY S**** People should buy them to play them or stare at them on their shelves with the warming glow of the completest. NOT Sell to them on at 4 times the Value!
EDIT
Running count is apparently between 35-40 Auctions Regards

If it's a limited edition of 750 and there are well over a hundred HMVs in the UK, it wouldn't take a run on each branch to have a sell out. Not really "crazy"! Great to sell so fast but it's not a queues round the block situation.

I'm not a vinyl collector (thank goodness- there has to be something from BF I don't want ), but touting in general makes me want to borrow the powers of the Black Guardian for a second so that I could stick 10% on all touts' energy tariffs and rail fares, repeated weekly, and then auto-reply with "MWAHAHAHAHAHA" to all their outraged posts about corporate greed.

I think the three stories created the ERA very well though i preferred Cold Vngeance and Sword better am more of a Classic Who person. I actually have not got around to the Doctor and Donna box set as of yet. I figure that Big Finish has something for everyone in their range of The Doctors adventures. For me it is the joy that when the actors are persuaded to recreate their roles on audio.Big Finish will serve up the goods. I remember watching Capaldi and thinking cannot wait till Big finish give him the scripts he really deserves. Least chronology wise Moffat left enough spaces in the time lines to fill. Are the stories the best of Doctor who,no but they are a welcome addition

I thought I would relisten to these as I decided to splurge out on the special edition just cause I wanted something glossy to flick through as I listen. So fresh ears with something shiny and new lol it has new series splashed all over it when you are reading the inside notes it reminds me of how I miss the booklets inside the older cd releases with the directors and writers notes (oh the memories lol).It easily slots into the era easily.I also suddenly thought there was a similarity with this story and the Judoon story in Jodies series where they are hunting the fugitive on earth so actually it got very easy to visualise the Zaross this time. I do not know the recording order of these stories but I do know that Rose sounds a wee bit different in this but know she gets more Rose like in the next to adventures... but this is a Rose who knows the rules of the game

Late to the party (as usual) and I ended up diverting myself to look up when the Judoon appeared in NuWho to work out whether Mr Dorney was justified in saying the Doctor didn't know any races even vaguely like the Zaross, and he does recognise the Judoon instantly in Smith and Jones, 2007, way before this was written. Sorry, petty niggle I know given that this is a Rose story and therefore earlier in his timeline, but even the Tardis would have known about them...
Anyway, fun story, very 10th Doctor, very John Dorney. Loved it.
