Now that's an intriguing writer. Do Dan Starkey's talents know no end?

That was co-written with John Dorney, just as Nigel Fairs helped Louise Jamison write The Abandoned (which really should have been abandoned). This is a solo effort by the looks of it. I know Colin Baker wrote a comic strip The Age of Chaos.

I happened to hear this recorded (the same day as Rulebook) and it's magnificent. From the opening scene it had me hooked

And Louise Jam eson has written for 'Survivors' and the next 'Omega Factor' set (and maybe more I don't know about) - one of the very few who are BF actor, director and writer. I listened to the very interesting interview tracks for brilliant CC 'Ghost in the Machine' yesterday and only then realised she had directed it, as her first BF audio direction. And a structurally complex story, where (for example) there are times character X is playing character Y playing character X.

Louise Jameson (there's a Dark Shadows character called Jamison Collins, played by Jamison Shelby in the audios) also directed Shield of the Jotunn, playing a cameo role as a wise woman shaman figure. Isn't Wings of a Butterfly the one where a professor asks for the Doctor's help to investigate something, but the Doctor keeps making things worse?

I hadn't a clue before I listened to 'Shield' that she was connected with that production at all - so it was a very nice bonus when I suddenly recognised the voice of the Oracle!

Did Vikings have oracles, or were they just called wise women? But yeah, Louise Jameson should direct more.

I know Colin Baker wrote a comic strip The Age of Chaos. It's still writing. I don't think having a more acknowledged writer alongside Dan or Louise lessens the fact that they wrote them. It's a bit patronising - unintended I'm sure - to treat this as more "real" as a debut because it's solo. If we don't count co-writes....most of Mark Wright and Cavan Scott's output doesn't count.

I don't mean to trivialise anything. There's that feeling you get when you acomplish something on your own, or without extra support (I know there are always script editors and producers who look at scripts and give feedback). This story is almost pure Starkey, and I'm excited to see him expand his experiences.

I don't think Bob Baker was intrinsically prouder of Nightmare of Eden because Dave Martin wasn't involved. I don't think Mark Wright and Cav Scott are more proud of their solo efforts than their collaborations. You do often have a very individual outlook.

Sometimes co-written stories can be very interesting. For a couple Nick Briggs did, he provided the overall story while the co-writer focused on the episode breakdown. In the extras for Council of War Simon and Paul talk about what they each contributed. For the Eighth Doctor box sets I'm convinced John and Matt are telepathic. I find the behind the scenes fascinating, it adds more to the story and I find one becomes more appreciative of it.

I really enjoyed that! A very entertaining short story that overlays Season 22 and Season 23 nicely and brings us back to original Sixie without alienating other fans. The darkness is still present, but subduded. And I love how Peri's strength and determination as a character is reflected here, while not ignoring her vunerability or her difficult relationship with The Doctor, either. The darkness of Season 22 is present here, but subduded (and handled better then some of Season Twenty-Two's worst excesses *cough* Lytton's hands being crushed by the Cybermen or Natasha Stegos having to ethuanise her Father) and the ending was VERY Six. Dan Starkey made a very impressive debut with Terror of the Sontarans and I can't wait to hear what's next
