So, that's the license that Big Finish have been trying to land, with two new boxed sets due for release next year, with the original cast involved.
With Star Cops being a Chris Boucher series, wonder if this means that BF have a better chance at finally getting the series D Blake's 7 rights eventually now, too?

I'm glad BF are extending their output with other ranges and I hope it sells well for them but I can honestly say that I never took to Star Cops (probably was "at that age") and so I can breathe a sigh that I won't have to get this. Mind you, I think I said something similar when Captain Scarlett was announced . My only concern is whether they have enough writers "in the pool" to ensure the quality of the DW stuff doesn't go down. Cheers Tony

I hope so, but they've used other properties Boucher owns the rights to before (specifically, Kaldor City and its robots)

It's a cool show and for anyone unfamiliar I'd recommend it to anyone who likes a bit more of a grounded British sci-fi from the 80s. It's got a lot more elements of a procedural police show than you'd expect. Tonally I always thought it was more like the pilot of Blake's 7 than the rest of Blake's 7 actually was! The DVDs have been out of print for a few years but they do pop up. Well worth a punt. Would also recommend Chris' novelisation, too. As long as BF get a new theme song, that Justin Hayward nonsense was as ill-fitting as the Russell Watson song for Enterprise - I'm happy.

1987? That’s awfully modern for Big Finish! I’ve never even heard of this one, so I think I’ll be waiting to see what people think.

Wonder if they'll do an audiobook of Boucher's novelisation as a jumping on point?

Hmm. I guess I'll be keeping my eyes on that one and see what people think.

A lot of the episodes are on youtube if people want to see what it's all about.
Cheers

Its probably the closest thing BF will release to a procedural cop drama so I'll get them eventually

I'm wondering if licencing Justin Hayward would cost a fortune and that's why it's out but...whatever the reason, financial or aesthetic, I'm glad. I wouldn't have liked to have had to listen to that song with earphones.

It's great that they got the main surviving cast members back, it's just a shame that Jonathan Adams and Erick Ray Edwards aren't around any longer in order to join them.
I can't say I'm surprised that Sayo Inabat's character of Anna Shoun isn't returning, though, given Boucher's disdain for the character being added to the show without his consultation, but with the other surviving cast members returning it's still a bit of a shame.
Glad about the theme tune being dumped, though. Truly one of the worst themes to a sci-fi show ever. I mean even the K-9 and Company theme is better...

£28 CD / £25 DL each series and £50 / £45 bundle - better bundle pricing than the whole one pound saving on the First Doctor Adventures bundle! (Once I'd adjusted to the total recast I'd have paid more anyway, but shhh don't tell BF that, it's a good job none of them ever read DU isn't it...) Star Cops! Never thought I would see (or hear) them again - until now! And just look at that list of writers...

This is awesome news. i can't wait for this. The TV show didn't get enough love when it was on and i didn't really think it had the following to justify this kind of release but i am chuffed that it does.
A part of me is a bit sad that they are having a new theme tune. Me and my mate (the only other person i know who even liked and remembers the show) still sing the song to each other now. Yes it is as cheesy as hell but that was kind of the fun
"Like a ripple on the water......................"

Pity the DVD is currently out of print, and scarce/expensive on eBay.. Fingers crossed it'll get a reprint to coincide with these audio releases.
