Hard to say. Some people are quick to pre-order. Others wait for sales, even if it means waiting a long time to get the release. Depends on how much you want it. After my first couple of years of listening I'd pretty much caught up with all the "bits" that I wanted to buy and I now split my spendings (at a guess, without checking my actual list on the site) pretty much evenly between sales and pre-orders. Which might mean that more items are bought through sales (like the 50-odd things I bought during the 99 sale) compared to pre-ordering. Same. I bought a lot on sale at first, then started pre-ordering releases I really wanted. But there are some ranges that I don't feel the need to pre-order right away and am willing to wait till they go on sale, even if it's a year or more in the future. Part of that is a function of having bought a lot of releases that I haven't had time to listen to, so I kind of feel there's "no rush". I may feel differently once I've caught up with my listening. We've kind of digressed from the subject of this thread, maybe it's time to get back.

Fantastic I was going to space it out over two days, but I was enjoying it far too much to stop Both stories were gripping and exciting, both pulling me into the best trap a Blake's 7 story can: I forget how the TV story ends, so anything that's happening in the audio drama could really decide the fate of our heroes, even though they're very much set in stone. And I doubt many, if any, will be surprised by the truly touching moments at the end Thank you for a wonderful anniversary release, Big Finish

Does anyone have an idea where exactly the framing segments fit into the timeline? I've not read Darrow's books, but understand Glynis Barber's character is from that particular Post Gauda-Prime chronology.

Some spoilers follow ...
Aw, that was just wonderful. Why the 'aw?' Well, because these two stories - galaxies apart but linked by a common cause (albeit questionable intentions) - embody what I loved/love about Blake's 7. Brilliant characters, a strong dynamic between a crew that often appears to tolerate each other at best, lots of 'space fights' and even some shrill sounding monsters. Quotable too - Avon's simplistic put-down "I don't know you, so don't presume to know me," is something I'd love to say to the next person who sticks their nose in my business (I'm in that kind of mood). Everyone's on top form - Stephen Grief sounds exactly the same (I'm still gagging for a story featuring both him and Brian Croucher), and Servalan's ease of command is always great to hear ("The stench of decay was already thick around the bloated carcass of the Federation"). Nice to hear Jenna getting stuck into a good fight in the first story - she had far little of that kind of thing on television. A great decision to include Gylnis Barber too, who sounds amazing, as the intriguing Magda.
I feel that some of the female characters in Dissent might have sounded a little similar and difficult to tell apart, and the lack of Gareth Thomas in Project Aquitar is fairly apparent - as it was always going to be, sadly. And yet these two minor issues are vastly outweighed by how brilliant this set is. The ongoing Crossfire series somehow lacks the 'spark' that is apparent in abundance here (I've yet to get beyond Paradise Lost, to be honest, but this set incites me to do so soon).
As has already been said, that ending is very touching. The kind of reflection and honesty denied by the abrupt and brilliant ending of the television show.
Exceptional.

Finished Dissent today. I'll listen to the Behind the Scenes tomorrow. Yes, indeed, a great tribute to the series. It did remind me of something that came to mind when watching Series C and D. In Series C, while they were not actively trying to fight the Federation, it seemed they had quite a number of successes. Then in Series D, it seemed every time they went against the Federation it just didn't work out well.

Ah, I forgot to post here after listening a few days ago. I thought these were great. Nice to hear Travis 1.0 and I'm glad that Darrow still spins Avon as good as ever. Really, everyone here was great. The only thing that was not so good, was the way they had to dance around the absense of Blake in the first part.

By the way, the Behind the Scenes disc is mostly devoted as a celebration of the TV series as a whole rather than just this set. So, well recommended to fans of the series.

Just finished both stories. Both were of a very high standard. I admit it might be a touch soon to recast Blake but is now the time to think about recasting Gan?

Really good celebration of B7. The season 1 story was fairly run of the mill stuff, albeit very well done, the season 3 story was very good, a new take on one of the standard season 3 plot tropes that I was surprised to realise had not been done before in that way. Well done to all concerned.
What's with the reading out of the cast list at the end like a radio production?

That was a fun listen. The framing device was not what I expected at all. But I guess that was a reasonable way to do it. {Spoiler}I was a little surprised/confused by the part where Avalon was given access to being able to give Zen orders. As I recall, in the TV series, things like that generally didn't happen for people who appeared on the show for an episode or two, whether they were considered allies or not, and I don't remember anything like that happening with Avalon, either.
But maybe that was something that happened just for this series? In the first episode, they didn't really make it crystal clear that Avalon was given the access to give Zen orders, but in the second episode, apparently she could. The interviews and reminisces were fun to listen to.
