Checking my BF account on my phone, I notice to my pleasant and mild surprise that The Skin Walkers and The Darkest Shadow are included when you filer by the Confessions range.
Should I include in my upcoming relisten the various chronological Quentin audios, culminating with... Operation Victor I think(?), that deal with the various organizations and families that eventually band together in what we dear listeners know as The Lowell Foundation in present day? Or maybe all the way up through The Haunted Refrain?
Additionally, wow, it's been a whole year. We've had a couple teases... December of 2015 saw Alex Vlahos playing a character who really should have been Dorian in The Diary of River Song Series 1...
June of 2017 saw Alexander Vlahos again playing a mysterious immortal who apparently knows Jack in The Lives of Captain Jack... but alas, all was not as we hoped
A special project with Scott and Alex was teased... which ended up being their spectacular rendition of Hamlet.
Bottom line, it's been thirteen months since Dorian exited our lives, and I still find myself wanting.
As I prepare to journey again through this magnificent series, I ask you all, what has scratched that itch for you?
There have been a few episodes of Torchwood that have hit the strike zone for me, but, while that series is splendid, they don't always venture into Confessions' wheelhouse as far as tone and rating are concerned. The 2017 run of the standalone releases in particular really ramped things up, with Corpse Day, The Office of Never Was, and The Dying Room all being strong contenders for being up there with Dorian stories.
Penny Dreadful was a wonderful show, but it ended a few months before Confessions did. While it'd be lovely if it came back (or BF got the rights to do audios (didn't some of the BF regulars work on the show?)) that doesn't seem a likely outcome.
Big Finish's Dark Shadows range is also good, though there hasn't been a whole lot of focus on Quentin in the past year (though that's changing in the nearish future).
And finally a special shout out to Big Finish's Classics Range and their Monthly H G Wells releases for half the year there.
I just don't know... do you fine fellows have any suggestions or coping mechanisms?

My coping mechanism is having so many other Big Finish to listen to but yes, when I think about it I miss Dorian terribly and would love some more.
Cheers

I'm unsure of whether to do a chronological relisten or a release order on. I've also been revisiting my "ideal listening order" and am making notes about revisions...

I first listened in release order, then chronological order as it does give a sense of Dorian's progression (?). Also, I know @scotthandcock says "Shades of Gray" is a different Dorian but for me it still fits (even after "Ever After") and should be listened to last. Cheers Tony

So far I'm coping by not having listened to every last Dorian story yet so that I still have several to look forward to including the Christmas release (likewise with Hamlet). It's hard to find anything enough alike to fill the gap otherwise (which was part of what made Dorian attractive enough to become the second Big Finish range I explored), although it helps that I was introduced to Dorian by the Dark Shadows cross-over and that both series have figures that manage to be heroic in spite of some of their misbehavior. (Come to think of it, at one point I wondered if Scott Handcock might be a huge longtime Dark Shadows fan, with not only his having written outstanding material for the Dark Shadows range, but also - as if effortlessly - having give the Dorian series the right atmosphere that I instantly felt very much at home). I'm unsure of whether to do a chronological relisten or a release order on. I've also been revisiting my "ideal listening order" and am making notes about revisions... I think I share Trace's sentiments in another thread that the development of the character may not necessarily follow a progression that matches the chronological order of the stories, so whatever works best for a person really - or listen both ways on different occasions if possible. I'm way overdue for a Dorian marathon myself, and since last time I listened in release order more or less out of necessity, this time I might try chronological order. It might help me to have a bit better grasp of Dorian's remarkable timeline.

I found a radio program called Pilgrim, about an immortal man who deals with supernatural / folktale beings. It's the 3rd series, I'd like to hear the first 2. In personality he seems different to Dorian, but some of the situations are similar.

BBC have released Pilgrim on CD, two 'clam-shell' collections. The first has series 1-4, and the second series 5-7. The collections are also available on Audible, if that suits you better

Oh cheers! Have added those to my wishlist for later perusal. I opted for a release order listen through. Got through Shades, World, and Houses today. Good stuff, good stuff... I notice that he says he met Ross when he was around 20... which would be right around 1888, so that scans I wonder what his son would have been named? Dorian Jr? Still want a follow-up to Shades, or at least the full script where The Collector speaks through the seance members at the end when Dorian shows up in person for his portrait.

I'd love to see that version of the script, as it's certainly not the one that was written There was a slight extension to the original ending, as I recall: a longer confrontation between Dorian and Jack that was going to set up a character arc for Jack... then ongoing plans changed and it was easier to drop than set up a storyline that either wouldn't be resolved or would be resolved with a hand wave.

Ah, that must be what I was thinking of! Thanks for clearing that up (but would still like to see the slightly longer script )

I did start pulling together a book about Dorian, including unmade scripts and trims, etc - which is how I was able to check. Maybe one day I'll have time to finish it and do something with it!

I can say without hesitation that The Confessions of Dorian Gray is the series I miss the most of all others—INCLUDING series from audio, TV, comics, books, and feature films. It left a hole that I haven’t completely filled, and I watch a LOT of TV, see a lot of films, and read all the time. If any series deserves a future return in some way, including a book about it, it’s Dorian.
