So the first series had 2 70s companions, both of whom never met on screen, a supporting character from the 1986 season, a Benny Summerfield star, The Eighth Doctor's companion's sister and two K9s.
Later Romana I joined as well as several other faces from the series.
Intervention Earth was a 'reboot' that carried on the tradition, we had a new Romana teamed with an 80s companion to fight a 70s villain. With Narvin, of course. This was short lived as the series reverted to the original cast for the next release (Ace stayed though).
Now Romana, Leela, Ace, Narvin and Braxiatel are to team with the War Master in The Time War!
What do people reckon? I think it's fun!

I bought Intervention Earth, couldn't get into it. I was led to believe it was a fresh new series but ended on a cliff-hanger & referenced a character I had no knowledge of. I think this range isn't for me really.

I think this range isn't for me really. I found the way they promoted Intervention Earth as a fresh start but then completely abandoned it in favour of continuing the previous series very odd. What was the point of all that set-up of Trey only to throw her aside that quickly?

I recall something bring alluded to to the tune of “the BBC frowned on us creating a new incarnation of Romana”.

Especially as they used a Lalla Ward voice over in the Doctor Who Experience.

I do think that Gallifrey asks a lot of it's listeners...I have been so annoyed with their releases in the past.... but I do keep buying them, so they are doing something right.

If BBC would get off their duff, and resurrect some of these highly valued, and highly valuable characters, big finish wouldn't have too...but they are too concerned with putting out their 12 episodes every other year or so...Still sad that Doctor Who is undervalued by the BBC, even now....

Umm.....is there a way to get download-only bundles for Gallifrey 1-3? For 1-3, I see only CD bundles. But, each of the later series have download vs. CD options.
What gives? Am I being stupid and missing something? I find it very strange that the CD-only bundles are from S1-3. Does anyone know how if there's a way to get a download bundle for S1-3? Perhaps there is news I missed...

The pre-boxset Bernice Summerfield stories have that same hurdle as well. It ends up creating a rather curious contrast between Who releases and their spin-offs. I've gotten Main Range stories predominantly through the download only option, so a lot of those stories end up on DVDs for backup purposes. A tightly packed wall of spin-off releases on CD, on one hand. A much more leisurely assortment of "seasons" following the regular Doctors occupying a single shelf, on the other.

Anything with those characters is a winner.
