It will be an interesting comparison to now see how much Big Finish got right within their audio version of this previously lost Series 1 #20 TV episode. Please someone share this knowledge with us, if you have experienced both versions? It will be appreciated. there was a synopsis and a lot of telesnaps so the basic story and flow of events are spot on the fine details of the plot requiring guesswork are another matter - I do not know whether any were guessed correctly - a lot were not the biggest being the point of the fortune teller scene - John Dorney tried to come up with a reason for the scene but it was just a comic aside for filler puposes Lots of minor differences -for example in the Big Finish version Steed and One-Ten are already aware of Harry Black and associate him with the case at the beginning, in the TV version Steed has to ask One-Ten for information about prison escapes to find out about Harry Black and guess his involvement In the Big Finish version Dr Keel stumbles onto Harry at the fair after talking to Steed, while on TV Steed had spotted Harry and notified Dr Keel of his presence. and so on... sometime in the next few weeks I'll try to do a more direct comparison

Today's (May 26th) Daily Deal on Audible (1.99)
John Wyndham's best novel imo, highly recommended.

Phantom Thread on bluray arrived today. One of the movies of 2018 for me and a lovely capper to Daniel Day Lewis' career. Makes a fascinating companion piece to The Age Of Innocence which I also picked up from Criterion quite recently.

Screenbound are doing a new 4K restoration of Blood On Satan's Claw - one of the great Brit horrors. It's limited to only 1000 copies. The existing bluray is great but a host of new features and a new scan should make this definitive. Warning for any Zoe fans with sensitive dispostions - there's a very disturbing scene with Wendy Padbury. And Anthony Ainley in a wig. www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07DTXL6CK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1So I've pre-ordered that

Though it hasn't been that long since my last splurge, I've recently learned that most of the major retailers in my area are ceasing stocking DVDs, so when one of the two remaining sellers announces an offer I get sucked in really easily... Thanks to a "Buy 2 Series, Get 1 Free" deal, as well as some good deals on Disney movies, I picked up: Vicious: Series 1 and 2 (Just discovered this the other day and it was far funnier than it should have been... so I went and bought it immediately ) Humans: Series 1 (I've only seen one random episode of this but I enjoyed it, so I thought I'd give it a go) Broadchurch: Series 1-3 (I've been meaning to get these for ever, and I couldn't turn down the set for $45!) Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No TalesThe Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Prince Caspian (more for nostalgia than anything else) Frustratingly, they were missing both Pirates 4 and Narnia 3, so I've got a couple of gaps I'm going to have to fill later. Not a bad haul for just over AUD$100
