great, never tried anything Blake's 7, is there anything I need to know, goin into it? The whole TV series is (was) on Youtube. Not the best quality rips but if you found anything confusing in the audios it'll help, plus just a visual reference. And if you DO watch it listen to Warship in between Series B and C. As a newbie to Blake’s 7 I would suggest the Liberator chronicles before the full cast plays. As I’ve seen only series A and B yet, I’m able to clearly pick and choose the LCs set in these two series. I’ll move on to the full cast dramas after I finish the show.

I'm done, up to date on bf who range, listened to them all at least once, and working my way thru again in chronological order, but I need something else...tell me what I can pick up from bf that I don't need to have a clue about, to enjoy...thanks... Have you tried Dalek Empire? That's the Daleks as they should be: ****ing dangerous, brutal, genius, and soulless. I loved it. Outstanding performances. Think the full four series came to something like 40 or 45 bucks for download-only. They are even cheaper now at 0.99 per episode. The best Dalek stories I’ve listened to. I’d also add Cyberman to the list.

Blake’s 7 is the obvious choice if you want to stay in the sci-if genre. That show is darker and more political, still top notch stuff from BF but since I think you and I are more or less of the same generation, I’d look really hard at the Dark Shadows range.

I need 3 & 4 from the original run, then I'm caught up on this one, I do enjoy these, though Toby, man he's a trip, makes me look, well, at least moderate...I liked the older ones better than the new series so far, but we'll see how it goes, think a new one comes out next month doesn't it?

I never got into Dark Shadows, I tried to watch it several times, and just couldn't get into it, but yeah, I'm willing to try an audio...Barnabus Collins, is that right? I did see the movie with Depp, and it was just silly, do fans of Dark Shadows, overall like or hate or have mixed feelings about the movie?

I have mixed feelings about the Depp movie - it had some good points and was worth seeing, but I did think it was mostly silly. The audio series is really good though, and focuses on different characters from the show (as well as giving us a few new ones that are noteworthy) - it's a lot less The Barnabas Show than the TV series was. If you listen to a lot of audios like I have figured, Dark Shadows or Blake's 7 might be the best bets for keeping entertained for awhile, and Big Finish has done great work with both series in my opinion. If you haven't gotten into the Jago & Litefoot range, though, that's definitely something from the DW universe that's worth checking into.

I'd agree that Dark Shadows could work with a humorous take but that take didn't belong to Tim Burton. Beetlejuice/ Batman era Burton? Maybe but not modern era Burton. Personally I think a writing team such as The League of Gentlemen could have done a great Dark Shadows movie that would have been both funny and scary.

Regardless, Dark Shadows from Big Finish is one of their strangest ranges and well worth tracking down.

Strongly recommend CM 3 & 4 (must be heard in sequence, with some seriously big cliff-hangers!) and then you'll have to hear the linking 'feature-length' story 'Who Killed Toby Kinsella?' to find out what happened between the old and new series!
