That might be the first time I've ever seen a photo of David Richardson. I've heard his voice a hundred times, and that is not the face that was in my head.

I'd go if it was in North Yorkshire. These conventions are never in North Yorkshire.
Oh well. Hope DWM do a special comic strip for 500 issues. Maybe Multi-Doctor.

The thing is, North Yorkshire never gets any of these things though and it's annoying to always see us get forgotten about. Why should it though? There tends to be a reason to have events in specific places. And when it's something like Big Finish Day or a DWm celebration then it HAS to be near London or else it's too expensive to organise. Attendees just need to pay for their own travel and accommodation. Move BF Day or such like and the organisers have 30-40 people to transport there and then put up overnight. And it becomes impractical, AND needs the entry fee boosted drastically to cover the extra expense.

Conventions do sometimes get organised up north. Guests are reluctant to attend, ticket sales are often not very high, the events are frequently not very good as a result, so the experience doesn't get repeated very often.
Your best chance for a northern convention is large northern cities with good transport links. Newcastle jas had good cons in the past. North Yorkshire isn't exactly the centre of the universe (and I say this as a resident of West Yorkshire).

Maybe find a local university group and organise a one-day thing with them. Some authors must live nearby. Explore the art of the possible (he said living 30 minutes from Heathrow!)

At least you've on the same landmass where you are.
