I’m not saying that it’ll stop people ordering, but I think it matters that they’re making a trailer actively promoting the set and not actually showing what is being promoted. It isn’t as if the other features were done that way; they all showed what Tom was saying. It’s not the end of the world, but I felt the trailer was lacking and tried to explain why. I think you took that particular sentence out of the context of my post. I think you both need to watch it again! It did show new effects - that's most certainly not the infamous rat we see, it's been touched up to be less...well, what we know. And the laser from Ep 6 of Talons is updated too, that's not the same shot. Niel Bushnell says Talons has got over 50 new effects shots.Oh I am so pleased! It's my favourite Who of all time in all media as it is, so any extra technical boost they can give Talons will be thrilling and well deserved. For starters, that rat is now a top quality CGI giant rat - yes, look again at the trailer anyone who didn't spot it (or was still laughing at Louise and the Home Assistant and missed the rest! )
Another lovely trailer and what splendid docs and extras we have in store, can't wait!!

I think it may be my personal favorite just for Tom's outfit, along with the season 19 one. Those are just phenomenal and I think the cover arts are the main reason why I keep buying them in the first place. Seriously, Lee Binding is just that good. He really really is that good. I think the cover art is absolutely stunning. I'm sure no-one could possibly disagree...

Trying to judge an episode from 1977 by today's standards. What a wonderful platform Twitter is. (Yes, I was being sarcastic.)

Who cares?! I'm delighted! The Talons of Weng-Chiang is one of the best Fourth Doctor stories, and probably one of the best Doctor Who stories ever made. Sure, it's dated and not 100% perfect when watched today, but it's still very enjoyable. I'm looking forward to seeing the new Talons CGI stuff and my S14 set was pre-ordered yesterday once the trailer had whetted my appetite... if only we didn't have to wait so long for it to arrive. I want it now!

Their prerogative, but we don't need to bring the hornet's nest in here when the debate's been done to death already. Plus, they're not here to defend their opinions so not much point debating the pros and cons with them. Not that they seem too up for having open minds over it...

Nah, Blu-ray was obsoleted Don't let Davy hear you say that! I'm 4-Kapable already so I've no problem with it. Though 4K hasn't caught on anywhere near as much as hoped so it's certainly not made anything obsolete yet. I believe the Playstation 5 is coming with a 4K player in it and that's essentially helped bluray take off - every PS3 buyer became a bluray player owner at the same time and that not only helped bluray as a format, but it completely killed HD-DVD, which really is obsolete and was within a few years of debuting. It didn't even have the shelf life of beta which at least was a good format for home-made video if not commercial ones. Doctor Who dipped it's toe in the 4K waters and then hasn't been back in since: Capaldi's Twice Upon A Time was released in 4K but none of Jodie's stuff has been despite being shot with 4K cameras, perhaps future proofing it if the format does take off more.

Amazon just slashed prices for the Pertwee, C. Baker, and McCoy season Blu-rays. I picked up the Pertwee S4 set for almost 50% off.
I do not know the geographic extent of the promotion.

I do not know the geographic extent of the promotion. Looks like it is limited to just amazon.com - Season 10 blu ray on there is down to $41.99 (£32.26), on amazon.com.au it's $67.86 (£35.86) and on amazon.co.uk there is no option to buy direct, but the smaller sellers are attempting a massive jaw dropping rip off at £134.98! 😡

I have no idea what the occasion is, but looks like there are a lot of DW Blu-ray price discounts on Amazon.ca right now too. Particularly on the BD sets for new Who -- the "Complete David Tennant" collection is on for only $25, for example.

And for Season 10, sadly OOP. The US "Pertwee Season 4" (two nations divided by uncommon numbering ) is on Amazon UK for £51.17 which including 20% VAT and allowing for shipping isn't too much more than the US price - but still more than the lovely UK edition was on pre-order. The moral is clear.
...
(The Doctor looks straight at the camera while the fam stare glumly floorwards.)
'They didn't get their pre-orders in in time and now they're paying the price - no lovely UK packaging and booklet and just a blue box (not that I've got anything against blue boxes), or pay a small fortune to greedy evil capitalist resellers for a version that's now extinct.' 'It didn't have to be like this. If only they'd acted while there was still time. But it's not too late - you can still make things right for future sets - get your Season 14 pre-orders in NOW.'
(Flash image of S14 in all its UK Ltd. Ed. glory.)
(Fam chirp up a bit and reach for their credit cards with a look of collective determination... MESSAGE received.)

Gosh I love all of these trailers so much. It's a shame S12 didn't get one, they only started it with the 2nd release (S19, Tegan's airline) - maybe we can get one for the upcoming limited S12 re-release!
