Escape to the country, or watch me pretend to buy house.......it’s omnipresent
But I am really tempted to be a smug git and say the news!

An ex-girlfriend made me watch all of Sex and the City. Every excruciating minute of it. Although, fortunately, this was before they started making movies, so at least I was able to dodge those bullets.

An ex-gf used to force me to watch Alias and Gilmore Girls. Both shows suffered from terrible writing and acting that wasn’t much better, made me want to shoot myself.

Had to watch True Blood for an ex-girlfriend. I found it exasperating how the show was so self-consciously trying to create water cooler moments. In doing so it was constantly trapped in a cycle of trying to one-up itself with increasingly erratic, shock value plot twists.

One trainwreck of a season after another. I didn't even end up finishing the series.

Ugh, had to watch How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory with my roommate a few years. Full context:
I don't think I've ever hated, as, more then Barney Stinston. As in I wanted bodily harm to occur to him every time he was onscreen. Barney's awful and is given thinly defined reasons for being so and you can't make me remotely like these characters if there hanging around such a horrible human being. And the misgony of the show (Robin and her 'dogs') is incredibly transparent, combined with the hacky writingt. I'm pretty sure the writers broke down and wept back in 2013 when they reliased they couldn't do gay jokes anymore. Big Bang was another show and oh God, Leonard is so annoying and self-serving with Sheldon it's sickening and Penny (worst name for a female character EVER) deserves better.

What's wrong with 'Penny' as a name?

What's wrong with 'Penny' as a name? And if I remember right from The Writer's Tale, "Penny" was gonna be the name of the companion in Season 4 before Catherine Tate made it clear she would do a full series.

She did appear in the end, as a kind of companion who couldn't: tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Penny_CarterI think Big Bang Theory has had its day. The early series were relatively funny but now it's too far from its premise and the jokes are stale.

Because Leonard's a 'nice guy' (I mean, WHAT IS THAT EVEN?) (well, in Chuck Lorre's mind anyway, he's actually manipulative and self-serving) and the message just has to drop. *Screams into a pillow*

I don't know, I just find something else to do if something doesn't grab me, but my mom and I did hate-watch Under the Dome. It started sincerely, as the idea held some promise, but eventually we were watching it to see what crazy garbage they'd come up with that week.

I don't think I've ever forced myself to sit through a show that I hated for someone else's benefit, but I've certainly hate-watched plenty - ones that I've started off liking but then have got progressively worse as they went on. Though I've started to get better at dropping shows as soon as I've started going off them...
