Also ... Blake's 7. (Though there will be more full-cast adventures. Format TBD.) With the passing of Gareth, Jacqueline and Paul it was sadly inevitable that the writing would be on the wall for Blake's 7 in it's current form, but I'm intrigued to see just what direction Big Finish intend to take if recasting isn't an option but full-cast adventures are still the intention. Even more intriguingly is Nick's response to the letter about the War Doctor. To quote the man : "we did have more plans for the War Doctor, Matthew, as Sir John had said he wanted to do more. Maybe one day those plans will come to fruition. Watch this space!" Now maybe it is a huge amount of wishful thinking on my part, but I don't read that response as an outright dismissal of the chances of that particular incarnation of the Doctor returning...

Maybe we are getting War Doctor chronicles after all. Maybe told by Narvin, a deposed and desperate Romana in hiding and Leela?

Yeah, those were the 2 most interesting points I picked up from Vortex.
I assume they are planning some sort of spin-off in the B7 universe, taking place concurrently with the TV series and enabling the surviving actors to appear. Personally I'm happy with that and I think it is the way to go, hopefully enough other fans will feel likewise and buy these new releases. I'm not sure why they seem to be so against further Liberator Chronicles (unless it is to do with the license?) as I thought the LCs were wonderful and a lot more consistently good than the full casts.
I agree the War Doctor comments seem to be a very positive comment. I think there are 3 options for them - War Dr Chronicles with Jacob Dudman impersonating Hurt, a young War Dr series with a new younger actor playing the post-regeneration War Dr, or recasting the older War Dr with a John Hurt soundalike. The sooner the better as far as I am concerned.

I seem to remember it being mentioned somewhere that the Liberator Chronicles didn’t sell as well as the full cast. They did originally say that full cast would be too expensive but obviously they have worked out some accounting magic to make it happen. Maybe they fear that if they went back to the liberator Chronicles they wouldn’t recoup their costs.

Maybe they fear that if they went back to the liberator Chronicles they wouldn’t recoup their costs. They originally licensed B7 from B7 media who had got the rights from the Nation estate, but whatever way it worked the Nation estate took back the rights and BF now license the rights directly from the Nation estate. Who knows, maybe the costs came down if there was no longer a middleman taking a markup on the license?
(From the Blake's Seven page on Wikipedia:
During 2015, the Nation Estate ended relations with Andrew Mark Sewell and the Blake's 7 licence was awarded to Big Finish Productions. On 4 April 2016, it announced The Liberator Chronicles Volume 12, due to be released later the same month, which would be the final entry in Big Finish's long-running collection of audio box-sets based on Blake's 7 With B7 Media's involvement. All future releases on their Blake's 7 ranges would be produced in-house at Big Finish under full licence)

I'd really like to recommend this edition of Vortex to everyone - it's got a lengthy piece on Timeslip, one of the longest I remember seeing in Vortex, and then a nice long piece on Human Frontier too - so it's a really good "here's what your next new obsession may be" issue - full of the usual quality photos, interviews and insights. And since Timeslip is a show I think quite a few on here said they'd never seen and of course Human Frontier is an original there's plenty we can learn in this one.

Next issue has a couple of longer reads too, including one of my favourite pieces to date. A great interviewee has some fantastic memories to share, tied in with an exciting release.

That was all a very lovely read. Informative and entertaining. Plus it helps that every article was of interest to me.
Sorry to say I am still not hyped for Stranded, but it was interesting to find out more about the release.
What did get me excited and reaching for my debit card was the Avengers piece! Finally some news regarding the stories and seeing the wonderful cover artwork finally made me decide to buy the physical product.
And Business as Usual was a great insight into how Big Finish are able to keep going. I feel I have done my small part by already ordered Shadow of the Sun and hope there will be many more announcements to come.
