Great title. I've got a great fondness for this era of Sixie on audio, so I'm really intrigued.

There's a theater in the TARDIS??!! Cool! Has this idea ever been used before in the last 50 something years?

Wow. For someone who has been playing Knights of the Old Republic and the mmo The Old Republic for the past few days thos was just perfect.
It felt like a deep Labrynth style fantasy, yet solidly in the science world of Doctor Who.
This year's short trips are unbelievably fantastic I'm so glad I didn't wait until December like I did for last year's.
I almost feel as if I've already got my money's worth. The idea of ten more stories that could be as good as January's tale and this one is mind boggling.
I'm not comfortable doing spoilers yey but the prose was wonderful. It was so detailed and I really felt like I was there. The description of Mel's non tv outfit was just the right level of detail to not intrude on the imagination. Her earrings were so perfectly described I could see them in front of me.
Also there was a lot of description of gestures and movements of the characters where you could "see" exactly what they were doing. This is the magic of a book or a short story. Whether it's read by an actor or a yellow paged copy from the charity shop this is what a story is supposed to be.
Simon A. Forward should be very proud. This was amazing. I hope he writes more for Big Finish; especially for the narrated or partially narrated titles.

I seem to remember him writing The Sandman & Dreamtime for the Main Range and maybe a Bernice Summerfield from the pre-box set age but not much in recent years. Oh well. I'm glad you enjoyed this Short Trip.

It's one of my favourites Although it's full cast I remember it conjuring up some amazing visuals in my head and really going quote deep into the Aboriginal cultural beliefs. It was really powerful.

Some lovely prose and a good reading by Bonnie Langford. Another strong entry.

I’ve listened to this twice now and both times was left breathless by the prose. Witty, utterly brilliant prose. Peppered with wonderfully original but immediately clear descriptions like “Dickensian decay”. Loved the Time Lord twist on classic fairy tales. The narration was spot on as well. A great overall listen.

Just listened to this yesterday. Good story. Kind of a quick resolution but then again, that's what happens when the Trips are Short.
Bonnie, I thought she did quite well narrating, and as Mel and her evil twin.... also, in approximating Colin's performance. Still, Mel was focus of the story, but by the end a couple of times I wondered what it would have been like had Colin been along for the ride. (also wondered what Colin would think of it if/when he happens to hear it)

I enjoyed this good narration style and the actual reasoning behind the plot was engaging.
Another fine entry in the Range.

I listened to this today, and I plan on at least one more listen in the near future, just to let this one wash over me again. Beautifully written and performed.

Mel-evolent is one of the best Short Trips I've heard. Simon A. Forward's script is magic, filled with rich, surprising and delighting prose and dialogue where every word counts and scores highly, depicting Mel's quest Through the Looking Visualiser to an ancient TARDIS kingdom that's more evil on the inside, with its 'witch queen', 'enchanted princess' and chorusing goblin horde... (and excellent sound design and darkly ominous 80s-style music by Ian Potter.) Bonnie Langford is splendid as Mel-evolent and Mel valiant; dark-mirror-'Mel' - and real Mel as she should always have been written on TV (rather than just some of the time, as happened): intelligent, energetic, a lightning-fast learner with a perfect memory and brave even when things get scary. (I definitely like audio Mel.) And in a story where the wonderful prose offers countless opportunities to the reader, she takes them all perfectly and gives a very good take on Old Sixie too! I really liked the way that (as with the previous Peri/Sixie ST 'The Authentic Experience') Companion and Doctor work as a close-knit team to solve the mystery, she on the inside and he on the other inside in his TARDIS. He has total confidence in Mel's abilities and doesn't hesitate for a second before sending her off into the unknown on a mission to save them both. Stuck in the Vortex with goblins carving up the TARDIS, there's no Time to waste! 5* A truly enchanting experience which should not be missed, generously sprinkled with references for long-time fans to enjoy. (And the very best of luck to Bonnie Langford in the One Voice Awards 2018; nominated for Best Performance in an Audiobook (Fiction) for 'The Blood Furnace'.) {Spoilers}The 'mirror' is the old space/time visualiser which once revealed the Macra (at the end of 'The Moonbase') and I'm not sure was ever seen again, until now. The First Doctor's everlasting matches (which are unknown to Mel here, she expects the match to burn down.) Organic crystallography (that was also Zygon technology, right?) One which will have made every 80s 'Who' fan chuckle, the Doctor using that dratted exercise bike as a dynamo!

Listened to this today. It was quite a fun piece. One problem was that it was hard to understand the goblins speaking. Still, another great short trip.

Very good. Enjoyed the story premise and the way it was carried out, and Bonnie Langford did a great job reading it.
