Flight Into Hull! Such a wonderful and emotional sequel to The Siege of Big Ben. I really hope to hear more New Series Short Trips next year!

This was a great follow up to Siege of Big Ben!!
Could happily have more adventures with the Meta-Crisis! Come to think of it I'd instantly buy a 9th Doc era short trip read by Camille as well!

While I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth (two Short Trips to listen to!), I'm very curious as to why they have dropped Flight into Hull! into our accounts a mere three days after we all downloaded The Darkened Earth.. EDIT : What a trip from Joe Lidster. Camille as always is just fabulous as Jackie as in the course of half an hour I went from grinning like an idiot to blinking back tears and back to idiot grinning again at her performance. More please!

This was utterly wonderful. Just finished listening. I would love to see a collection. I know these are fun short trips but I would be more likely to buy a Pete's World box set than I am to pick up the current chronicles collections.
I also would really really like to see a new series CC box. I love the range and wonder if there is any reason they wouldn't?
If they could get Pearl in they could do a new series CC like this: Camille, Arthur, and Pearl. and get John in for a 9th Doctor story.
Maybe even have Camille stick to metacrisis. But I know the range doesn't technically exist any more but I am certain there are people who would buy a Nü Who CC over some of the other offerings.
Back on topic I love these and hope we don't have to wait another year before we see more Jackie.

MY review of 'Flight into Hull!' is up today on Cultbox - hot take: loved it, more please! Let's have a parallel universe box set with the MetaCrisis Doctor (you could bite the bullet and have Jake Dudman play him)... and have Jackie as his full-time companion!

Actually, having Jake play him would give more of a sense of that "he's the Doctor but not quite" kind of thing going on with MetaTen (I don't know what to call him, but that'll do).

That's what I thought, you could have a sense of "not quite right" moving towards a different performance. As for the name, I always called him 10.5 - but thanks to Mr Moffat and the great renumbering, we know he used up a whole regeneration so I guess MetaCrisis Doctor is as good as anything else!

I love this story. Camille Coduri is wonderful, and I'm so happy to have her working with BF as much as she is.
Just curios, I would love to hear from the listener who gave this a 1/5. I'm curious to know what you didn't like about it.

One question about these two New Series Short Trips featuring Meta-Crisis and Jackie Tyler: Notice that they're both half-hours, does it mean listening to one of them is sort of the splitting a regular TV episode (not a two-parter) in half?

They're loosely linked but Big Ben wasn't a cliff-hanger ending as such, that being said, listening to both is a more rewarding experience.

Yeah, just like The Tenth Doctor Adventures, as they're approximately an hour long each which is even better (in terms of pacing).

I don't know why the Jackie short trips did not grip me more than they did. All the ingredients were there, Jackie in her usual self (I enjoyed here very much in the 10th Doctor adventures), a more dark and selfish doctor (this guy really is a jerk and needs some good old fashioned kick in the behind) and the cool parallel universe. But somehow these stories did not click with me and after listening to the first one, the second one on the airship just felt a bit "samey".

Hmm, this one didn’t quite click with me, despite enjoying The Siege of Big Ben.
I liked that it’s essentially a sequel, but it does seem derivative. It uses the same framing device and the idea of the story being one big chat, except it feels a little sparse. The Metacrisis Doctor isn’t in Big Ben enough and his decision doesn’t seem harsh enough to warrant Jackie’s reaction. I really struggled when the parallel Jackie turned up and the two of them have a big long chat and the Doctor doesn’t interrupt once. It’s mentioned in the story that he’s quiet, but I don’t really buy into it; often a weakness of the audio format.
It’s not a story that’s aged well. The Dimension Cannon makes Jackie’s reaction to parallel versions of herself, and not quite grasping that it’s possible to travel across universes, rather bizarre.
I didn’t dislike it, but I did find it a weaker half of this pair of Short Trips.
