Yes! Transcendence is a disturbing crime thriller with a difference (concept by David Richardson written by John Dorney & Andrew Smith) Regards mark687 Sometimes I wonder just how constrained the Big Finish writers feel by Doctor Who. Not that they don't love it, but Who is for a set audience and has a set format. Big Finish has really responded to Torchwood, Surrivors and The Omega Factor and there was a real relish and excitement in plunging to the dark unknown of The Confessions of Dorian Grey. And Jesus: letting John Dorney and Andrew Smith on that concept? It's going to be dark invavise series indeed.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

All of these sound really interesting and i'm glad that BF are diversifying their field to include such a wide variety of original productions. They all sound intriguing and there's a couple there that will be definite buys for me. Love the fact that it's a bold step into a wider market outside the niches that have been successful for them. I'm hoping these will provide a steppingstone into a bigger audience.

Transference looks like an eye-catchingly ambitious release - 8 hour-long episodes!

Hmmm
The concepts for these sound very interesting indeed. I've not delved into Big Finish beyond Who much and the ideas here might just be enough to tempt me. When I have some spare time I might get the first Cicero release and then maybe consider the series. The others I'll just wait for reviews, but am tempted. Having heard what the Big Finish writers can do with Who I'm quite intrigued by what they might come up with cut completely loose.

Cicero's brilliant and it's only five pounds ($5.00 standard Big Finish international pricing).

Let me guess - Survivors, Omega Factor, Dalek Empire.. Oh, I wish! I'd love to start on Survivors and The Omega Factor, but they're going to be waiting until the next lot of sales roll around, but Dalek Empire... I hadn't considered it yet, but now you mention it... I can't recommend The Omega Factor strongly enough. It's a fantastic grounded supernatural with two very human leads series and one of the best things Big Finish has ever done. Louise Jameson is brilliant (as is John Dorney).

Not that they don't love it, but Who is for a set audience and has a set format. It's an interesting question. Joe Lidster and David Darlington both talk about that in podcasts coming soon, where they say they started doing their Quartet range for What Noise Productions so that they could use (amongst other people) some of their Dark Shadows writers and Dark Shadows cast and tell stories of all different styles and settings that wouldn't fit the Dark Shadows world. And like the Doctor Who authors would, they stress they still love making Dark Shadows audios.

That's Shilling and Sixpence by Nigel Fairs (more than a nod to the greatly missed Sapphire and Steel range there, I think) and Blind Terror for me for starters. Thank you Big F.

But I'm also incredibly excited to see where they'll take Doctor Who this year and beyond. Big Finish is a gift in general, isn't it? I wasn't aware of Quartet, thanks

Well, that's a great start to the week isn't it?! Really good to see BF branching out and doing not just something different, but almost everything different - all at once. The variety of stories covered by that announcement is very impressive and ambitious. I'm about 50/50 on first read-through of the synopses - with this much variety there will be something for everyone and while I'm sure the quality will be the usual BF high standard throughout, there are some which simply leap out at me as 100% definite buys. And take a good close look at the pricing everyone - there are phenomenal bargains on offer. In listed order I'm already certain to buy: Cicero -6 hours of ancient Roman drama (including the pilot episode from last year so we know how good this will be) by David Llewellyn. Shilling & Sixpence Investigate - this sounds priceless from Nigel Fairs and probably best heard while wearing period costume for the full 'murder weekend' effect. And starring Celia Imrie and David Warner, no less. With Louise Jameson and Matthew Waterhouse among the guest stars. Definitely sounds worth a few bob, 8 half-hour stories. Blind Terror: The Gods of Frost - Gothic horror by guyadams ( what a promising combination of words!) starring Eve Myles, a story in 6 half-hour episodes. I cannot wait! and then Transference 'a disturbing crime thriller with a difference' and from the title and the 'difference' I'm guessing it's not your everyday reality crime thriller. An epic in 8 hour-long episodes by Jane Slavin, Roland Moore, Andrew Smith and dorney !

These all sound very, very interesting. The only problem is the price tag being just a bit high for my tastes, but when I get some cash to burn which may not be for a while as there are many Doctor Who things I want to catch up on before starting other ranges, or if these are put on discount individually (I cannot drop 100 at a time) I'll jump in

Just a slight Shuffle? Aye, that's the feller! On a tangent, it would be great more from Susannah Harker in Big Finish. But blimey, what a cast for this!
