SJS: Comeback not being currently available in any format is the wild-card stumbling block of your overall conjecture that I agree with. Maybe Dl rights are closer to being cleared then thought?

If its digital permission can be done and economically...then it will happen. This could be *the year* where the levee breaks on a lot of Big Finish CDs.

SJS: Comeback not being currently available in any format is the wild-card stumbling block of your overall conjecture that I agree with. Again, I look at it as a 12 year old title that looks to have not burned up the sales charts. There comes a point where you have to cut bait. I don't look at it as a stumbling block. I look at it as Big Finish making a pragmatic business choice to continue to pursue the download rights but to regretfully let the title remain unavailable until such time as they are able to offer the digital version. If Big Finish has made that decision, then they're willing to allow a 5-part story to be incomplete. Which theoretically wouldn't overly entice future buyers to jump on SJS: Series 1? But as you hint at, SJS profits nowadays are probably negligible.

As noted, I'm sure BF is trying to get rights cleared up for that one release but up until to that point, there isn't much to be done.

Why would Big Finish want to re-press something that they're presently willing to sell off at a clearance price of £1? I reluctantly admit this may be a more rational and realistic point than my "but they can't do that to Sarah Jane, she's my very first Doctor Who companion" argument. :-) Of course, they might be clearing the shelves of DE and SJ CDs to make room for DE and SJ box sets...

Dalek Empire: 4.1. The Fearless - Part 1 has moved to download only What a day! Either stocks of many titles were already very low or it's been a feeding frenzy of audio pirahnas. Or of resellers. (Contrast this with the 51-100 sell-off where we are 3 months in and every title is still available on CD. The difference between Sale @ £1 and Sale @ £6.)

If by "the year" you mean all the Benny releases that are disc only, then yes please! I've always presumed when the "single release" Series 1-11 Benny titles start to become digitally available...then it's TIME for a future CD buyer of those stories to PANIC!!! Perhaps I've got it backwards, and the CDs will disappear before its identical story downloads surface. I think we're going to witness more than we ever have "out of print" occurrences on older CD titles happening at Big Finish within the immediate years to come. I've also noticed starting last year that GraphicAudio has been increasingly unloading CD overstock at clearance prices as well as reducing their disc availability on newer titles on a more frequent basis.

It is bound to happen. I do feel like Benny and Big Finish is a unique thing and that the discs won’t go OOP until the digital rights are sorted but I could easily be wrong.

To be fair, though, I would imagine that the main range Doctor Who releases were originally made (and re-pressed over the years) in far higher numbers, so that probably has a fair bit to do with it, too.

Well, I've posted before about my less-than-great views on The Not So Wonderful Wizard of Oz, but somehow I don't think my lame-arse opinion really affects how many copies they had an overflowing shelf of, that they now want to shill out? I listened to the Wizard of Oz last year and that was once too many times. Be kind to your eardrums people, just so 'No'! Hah, yeah. I listened to it twice and it was far worse the second time.
I only listened twice to try to see if it might get better... alas... I vastly prefer the version penned/produced in year 2000, by Firesign Theatre's David Ossman.
Ugh, I just tried to hit the "edit" button and mistakenly hit the "like" button instead. No I was NOT trying to "like" my own post.

Have to agree, it was one of the worst releases that year. Probably the worst version of Wizard I’ve ever come across. I haven't yet removed the plastic wrap from my CD copy of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and nor have I downloaded it. Perhaps, I'll hold off a little longer. Based on some of the unflattering comments about it, I'll entertain the idea that there's probably something questionable about its enjoyment factor. However, I'm a great believer in trying things out for myself - perhaps I'll find it to be a masterpiece. I'll never really know until I witness its story for myself. After all, I happen to like Fly Me to the Moon with Sylvester McCoy and India Fisher.

(To be fair, I've not heard a lot of other adaptations, so I'm taking it in its own merits and not comparing it to other potentially better versions.)

Going to grab all the Dalek Empire stories, I haven't read or watched The Wizard Of Oz but I'm kinda tempted to get it at that price, would I enjoy or be able to follow the story with no prior knowledge?

So do we think any of these titles might get re-released as boxsets further down the line?
