so last week i listened to akiri the scepter of xarbaal written by brian d anderson and steven savile read by jonathan davis
it wasn't great it was sort of muchinny at part the main character was a bit obnoxious but i was hooked and i ordered the next 2
the reader is quite good he does good voices he gives the characters a lot of personality with his voice choices and talent
i am more into the second book sands of darkness even thought i have 3 other books waiting oathbringer by brandon sanderson, from the malazan series, orb scepter throne, and the three body problem the chinese sci fi book cixin liu. bigger
more popular books. it hit me last night why i liked it so much. it was about just one guy, akiri. it was a nice break from the big modern fantasy epics. like wheel of time and song of fire and ice, with theirs casts of thousands. its sort of a throw
back to adventure sword and sorcery stories like conan. its also quick only 1 cd each. another thing that was a nice change pf pace akiri wasnt a good guy. he isnt evil either . in DnD terms im not sure would he be lawful neutral or true
neutral. akiri is sort of a fanatic when you meet. it gives him such singular purpose. davis's voice choice for akiri is calm and calculating almost free of emotion. it gives akiri a sense of objectivity none of the other characters have. he is sort of
like fantasy version of jason bourne.
all in all its a good listen
