My favorite Doctor, my favorite companion, and one of my favorite writers. (I cannot recommend Rivers of London enough.) I'm 100% on board with this. I just wish it was more than three issues. Titan is two for two on their new books for me. This relaunch looks excellent.

It's a start, so hopefully the three issue series is just to test the waters... hopefully they sell well and we get more. Could be they're bigger than the previous mini-series issues, so that the overall length ends up being the same (trade consistency). We'd get more story in each issue as well, with fewer waits and ideally less wait time. We'll see if Titan can actually release on schedule with this retool. I can still remember the problems with Supremacy of the Cybermen.

I believe this makes Aaronovitch only the fourth DW writer to be credited for a TV episode, audio play, novel and comic (after Marc Platt, Paul Cornell and Gareth Roberts) - to me, that's the Who equivalent of an EGOT (WhoGOT?).

They really are forcing the new logo on everything. I don't dislike it but it just doesn't look right here.

Multiple variant covers? Ugh.

Multiple variant covers? Ugh. That's fine if the covers are nice, however in this case... The new logo doesn't look right on these Seventh Doctor comics either, but I'm sure we'll get used to it.

Multiple variant covers? Ugh. Exactly the same as every other comic they publish. None of which you're obliged to buy.

Titan don't have a readership base like DC and Marvel do, so that's not as many people to buy twice the number of the same issue (DC do one regular and one variant cover). Do one variant, save money. Anyone, that fourth one doesn't even look like the Seventh Doctor and Ace's faces.

I think the new logo actually fits better with the 7th Doctor than the McGann one, but I don't know if it'll work with all the Doctors.

I actually quite like those covers, even the fourth one.

Titan Comics love their variant covers and their various Doctor Who titles have always had many variant covers and exclusive editions. (There was eight covers for the first issue of their Third Doctor mini-series for instance... and around twelve covers for the first issue of their Fourth Doctor series!) If the covers look good and collectable, I buy them, if not I don't. Which is the same choice everyone has. It obviously works for Titan or they wouldn't produce them.

I think the new logo actually fits better with the 7th Doctor than the McGann one, but I don't know if it'll work with all the Doctors. It'll probably just take some getting used to - the Classic Who logo has been Pertwee/McGann for twenty-one years, after all. Also, the covers were absolutely done before the logo switch - the Bleeding Cool article showed the old one on the same covers. Also also, I've just realised how odd it is that Capaldi's comics used the Classic Who logo...

The Pertwee/McGann logo has been the default for so long it is odd thinking about it changing now, but it's really not any odder to force the 13th Doctor's logo on every comic than the 3rd/8th's. If it were up to me, they'd have era-specific logos on everything, but thankfully for BBC brand managers, it isn't up to me.

Really, really excited that this era is being celeberated and being introduced to a new audience by Titan

Someone might have brought this up before elsewhere, but the more I look at it, the more the new logo strikes me as very art deco... Anyone else get that feeling? I'm loving what's being done in the limited series with Seven and Ace at the moment. Operation: Volcano's got everything. Really deft characterisations, layered plot and a few thoughtful touches to make it stand out from a crowd. Right down to the delightfully era-authentic title. The little trick with The Travels of Marco Polo really tickled me (and the idea to have the A-plot set in the Australian outback, natch). It's a classic in the releasing, I think. Really, really excellent work on the part of all involved. Edit: I just finished the third issue from the library. Excellent from beginning to end, really nicely done. One I'll definitely be getting once the complete volume is released.
