A brilliant mind lost too soon.

My daughter alerted me about this a little while ago. Now it's all over the news and social media.

Goes without saying, but he was a brilliant man with a great sense of humour. It's gonna be hard to listen to Hitchhiker's Series 6 now...

Oh, wow... Stunned is definitely the word for it. It's the kind of thing you somehow don't expect to happen in your own lifetime. It's utterly tragic news... But as was just pointed out to me, for a man with ALS he's had a remarkable life. Truly remarkable.

Tragic loss for science and the world in general. A remarkable life.

There can't be many people who have inspired in the way Stephen Hawking did. He did more to popularise and promote science - at a time when science is under attack from a lot of quarters - than anyone recently. Despite all the challenges he faced he managed to communicate a love of science, a great humanity and a great sense of humour. He was inspiring as a genius but inspiring for so much beyond it too.

This man was a true inspiration to the world, not for his genius but for his tenacity and determination that we could still see the man behind all the challenges and limitations.
He was a superhuman and deserves to be remembered as a scientific great.....but let’s be honest most of us will remember him for his appearances in Star Trek, the simpsons, comic relief sketches etc.

RIP, he will always be rembered. Especially for his tenacity and self deprecating humour.

He had some brilliant guest appearance in Big Bang Theory, including when he trolled Leonard and Sheldon for kicks.
