I love the sound of all these stories. Two stories by guyadams, one of which has Ogrons! Plus that's pretty impressive for Timothy X Atack to get the finale slot. But no dorney? That's highly unusual. I'm also looking forward to hearing the Twelve. Not only is in another incarnation to make trouble and vie for control, but he's now a she! Talk about blurring the boundaries between the sexes.

SERIOUSLY. BEST. CASTING. EVER.
ALSO: SO SUBTLE BIG FINISH. WE GET IT. THIS IS THE END FOR EIGHT.
*Calms*
Oh, jeez. Something nasty is going to happen to the Orgons due to the Time War, isn't it?
Lords of Terror. The Time Lords are going to do something VERY bad, aren't they?

Sounds like it’s going to be great. Lovely to see some new writers getting a crack at the Eighth Doctor as much as I like Fitton and Dorney’s work some fresh voices is always a good thing.

I was sceptical about expanding this into four sets, but that’s a great lineup of writers. The Twelve sounds interesting, more Ollistra is always welcome and I’m actually intrigued about Time War Ogrons!

So this is cool and all but the announcement cuts the tension of Ravenous just the tiniest amount because we now know the Eleven survives to become the Twelve.
I do really like the idea of Miss Marple playing the Twelve though. That's an inspired choice after Mark Bonnar playing the Eleven so rough around the edges.

I confess I never thought about Julia McKenzie as the Twelve - interesting to say the least!
I don’t think the announcement is much of a spoiler as we knew that Twelve would follow Eleven.
So unless we get a regeneration in this up coming Time War set I don’t think it makes any difference for Ravenous, especially as I wouldn’t be surprised if the Eleven only appears in the first boxset.

Eh, it's more about putting things in motion. We were always going to get some insight into events post- Doom Coalition.

Yes but we're talking about the future of a character who appears in Ravenous as well which is a past event for them and still a future event for the audience. The Regeneration would've been a good ending to a Ravenous Boxset with no heads up.

There's an episode of Stargate Atlantis where due to a teleport incident McKay ends up with one of the female military personnel's personalities in his head, so basically he's got a woman in his head with a running commentary on everything he says and does (naturally he's got a date she has to help him with, good thing it's with the expedition psychiatrist). The objective of the episode is to restore Cadman's personality back to her own body by fixing the Wraith dart that caused the problem to begin with. It'd be like this for the Twelve, but in reverse and up to eleven, pun unintended. She's not only got eleven previous personalities vying for their say, but they're male personalities, and she's now in a female form. The early days must been a nightmare.
An interesting idea for the Eleven and/or Twelve might be that the personalities of the different incarnations get split into their own physical forms, with something like Black Kryptonite. Has the Eleven become so dependent on keeping his previous personalities in check that their absence would take him over the edge? And would the fate of the universe rely on all of them joining back into one?

He might not regenerate in Ravenous, it could take place off-disc, like the encounter(s) with the Terrible Zodin. It could add a Joker-eqsue aspect of multiple choice backstory as far as the regeneration is concerned.
In The End of Time the Tenth Doctor is dreading his upcoming regeneration because he sees it as the death of himself as a personality, replaced by a new man quite literally. With this in mind the Eleven is a much more interesting character as his previous selves are effectively immortal until the Thirteen finally expired.

I'd be more interested in the earliest days.Stick the Two against the first or second Doctor. a true split personality and an early adventures esque story wold let them play to the style of madness that actors tend to use back then. I think it could be pretty interesting tbh.

Eight's future has been defined by the Time War and the revival series since 2005 and since 2013, his future has been defined by The Night of The Doctor and The Day of The Doctor. It doesn't hurt to add or play with that or put pieces on the board where we don't quite know how they are going to line up, though.
