Big Finish working with these really young actors is going to great, guys. This is going to be a great two-way thing. These really fresh actors and the very experienced very seasoned talent of Big Finish is just going to be brilliant.

I don't how I feel about Ace popping up to be honest. Class felt very much like it's own thing within the Doctor Who universe - the only overlay I ever really wanted was the fallout of The Doctor's return. The Weeping Angels incorporation felt organic and very natural to the series, as well as reflecting the audacity of the series. I get Ace is one of the companions you could do with it and it's all part of that momentum, but even so....But, I do love what this will mean for Charlie and Quill's relationship in series two. WE ARE GETTING A SERIES TWO. OH MY GOD. Twisting the knife further with Charlie and Metruez, is something Big Finish is going to be so perfect at. Bring on the darkness, Big Finish. I know you can do it. Bring all the darkness to this. CLEANSE YOUR SOULS. GET JOHN DORNEY. GET ANDREW SMITH. ALSO GET NICHOLAS BRIGGS FOR THIS. NICK DOES DARKNESS REAALLY WELL. April dealing with dark emotions. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS. Yaay, more Maratuez development. YESSSSSSSSSSSSS. I liked him, but I wanted to see more of him outside of Charlie's boyfriend. Just so you know, this isn't Series 2. It's like the Torchwood monthly releases - stories set within the time frame of the first series EDIT: Unless you just meant a second 'series'/collection of stories with the characters, if so then yes, please ignore me

NEVER BLOODY THOUGHT THIS WOULD HAPPEN. I HONESTLY THOUGHT WE MIGHT GET A FOLLOW UP NOVEL, BUT THIS, THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER. THIS IS THE BEST THING.

Do you think you could just edit a previous post, Michael? Or just wait until you've gathered your thoughts and make one post? Not that I have a problem with your excitement (believe me, it's nothing like that), but you're taking up a heck of a lot of forum wall space is all

From the obscure news Thread at the time
Recording session Number 5 (at least)
/photo/1?tfw_site=proboards&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fnotthebigfinishforum.freeforums.net%2Fthread%2F1384%2Fcollect-obscure-finish-news-spoilers%3Fpage%3D63 Regards mark687
Again, those comments are not from Fady's story, that's what that twitter account inferred. I just wanted to point out that there was nothing to confirm that it was BF, just that they were all up to something, even if it was clearly BF if you connected all the dots. And yes, Handcock and Mowatt also did their fair share of teasing. But there was nothing more than "teasing" (they weren't even teasing, just sharing cool things they were doing, as millennials/gen z's tend to do) from everybody involved. Agree to disagree
Regards

I'm still hoping for the magic of Big Finish to convince BBC that they should do series 2 and.... actually PROMOTE IT.
But whether itt on Telly, Netflix, or August 2019 on pretty round discs We WILL get a second series.
That CD pressing is roughly 25000 pounds in sales.(and then there's downloads) If there's any chance of Class returning to tely showin g the BBC people will pay 25000+ is a damn good start.
Shows like this are important. I love audio but a show with this cast is important to be visible on Telly.
It's sad but it's quite common for a show with no straight white men to be given less second chances then other shows. I'm not saying it was "Holy S£%& This is Damn Good!" like Sarah Jane but the promotion was horrible , nobody in America watched it when it aired in the states because of a fake rumour it was already cancelled, and Patrick Ness does not know how to write a Doctor Who spinoff. And then he abandoned his own show.
I really enjoyed the show but Sarah Jane is very much it's own show and has tons of Doctor Who references monsters, ideas, technology, everything. Torchwood had a major character who went back to the parent show for 3 episodes and always had lots of little things to feel like it was the same worl d.
I liked Class but it wasn't written like a spinoff. It had great ideas and great episodes but with it's crappy third rate promotion and advertising it didn't feel like a living breathing Doctor Who world. And it only needed some light script editing to make it such.
I mean when Gwen does this crying video about the Doctor abandoning them.... That's powerful!
These kids should be mad at the Doctor, and UNIT, and wonder if Torchwood still exists.... They're abandoned at Clara Oswald's school. At Susan's school. Ian Chesterton is the bleedin headmaster!
BF can do all this justice but if BF is confident it can work Then it deserves to be on television.

I don’t quite get why these are limited editions?? Will definitely be ordering them this morning though 😊 Probably because the TV show didn't garner a huge following and most of Big Finish's customers buy the downloads. It was probably considered not economical enough to have a general release of CDs as there almost certainly isn't a big enough audience for them. (That's how i would interpret it, anyway ) And the target audience age-group (of whatever size) are presumably mostly download buyers of music / audio / video / everything, so not much demand for CDs.
Having said that: only 500 physical copies for a story including Coal Hill, Ace and a DALEK called 'In Remembrance' and written by Guy Adams??? I know nothing about 'Class' beyond what I've picked up on here and even I might buy Vol 2 to get my 'grubby little protruberances' on that story.
Releasing only 500 CD copies sounds like an auction waiting to happen.

There is a whole lot of interesting things going on here from a Big Finish perspective. Both volumes of the set coming out in the same month is pretty unusual and limiting the CD to 500 copies is also very interesting and perhaps a sign of things to come. I’m really curious to see where Big Finish is a year or two from now as it relates to physical media. So instant preorder from me and ordering the bundle saved me about 6 bucks as opposed to ordering both both individually. And shipping was unusually reasonable.

I don't think the limited number of CD copies is part of a future trend - this was a series very few people watched when it went out, so BF are probably right to be wary of low sales, and many of its potential listeners are likely to go for the download option. There are other releases not scheduled to come out for over two years that don't have limited CD stock.

There are other releases not scheduled to come out for over two years that don't have limited CD stock. Common business practices of tomorrow generally start out as experiments today. You may well be right but if you look at where huge costs lie for a business like BF, storage & distribution of CDs probably ranks right up there. Still, I am just throwing one possibility out there.

But Class is a huge outlier for BF - it wasn't very successful on broadcast, and it was only cancelled very recently. It's not like Star Cops, which has had 30 years to build up a cult following and critical reappraisal.

We just don’t know yet but it is unusual enough that it invites discussion and speculation.

The 500 CDs is the most interesting thing about this announcement (apologies to fans of Class). I don't know BF's sales figures and they can predict their customer demand much more accurately than any of us can, but ... 500 seems like a very small number.
As we know there are (still) people who have never heard of BF and seeing the physical CD at a shop or convention is how they find out. By limiting the CDs they are significantly restricting their route to market. And assuming they would want to sell to teenagers who watched Class but maybe don't read DWM regularly or at all, or don't view DW news websites, how will those potential customers even know these releases exist?
As I said in a post above this may well lead over time to physical CDs selling for large amounts on ebay and such like.
Is it simply that BF think 500 is all they will sell. If so, why? My own feeling would be that Class was probably not as popular as say Torchwood was with BF's customer base. Or perhaps because they think Class appealed to younger people who prefer download while only old fogeys (like me) who probably didn't watch Class are CD buyers?
Is their warehouse simply crammed full and they have to limit stocks of new releases coming in?
Or are they testing the water to move away from CDs altogether?
What does everyone else think?

There's no reason to think they're planning to move away from CDs altogether.
