So, what does everyone think about River’s fifth season? It will be interesting to see how they fit Eric Roberts into it. Mostly, I’m just glad to see Missy make her BF debut.

Oh man I just saw the posts in the obscure BF news thread. What a time to be alive. (Although just to find something to complain about - Where's Alex? TV Masters Only?)
I really do wonder how Eric Roberts will fit in - will his story take place during the movie??

Maybe he’ll temporarily escape the time vortex in between the TV Movie and Mastermind. And I guess they decided that five Masters would be too many.

Five Masters is too many? Damn, I was thinking they could have six by bringing in Dreyfus as well!

I have never even considered the possibility that Big Finish would use Roberts as the Master. Multi-Master stories seem to be like buses. You wait for one for decades, then three crop up in a matter of years. Or perhaps I just have a terrible local bus system.

Five Masters is too many? Damn, I was thinking they could have six by bringing in Dreyfus as well! Bring in Simm and make seven. Or, just for the hell of it, bring in Tipple to make it eight. I wonder if this will be a multi-Master story, or if River will just go through each of the Masters in each story like she’s been going through Doctors in each boxset. That could be why they chose to use four Masters. One Master for each episode.

That could be why they chose to use four Masters. One Master for each episode. I'd been wondering that too, but even if it is one Master per episode, I'd love for just one scene with all four of them: Beevers won't understand how he later becomes Roberts and will probably approve of Jacobi and Gomez. Roberts won't notice how much the rest of them are rolling their eyes at him. Jacobi will probably relish being with Beevers and probably try and ignore both Roberts and Gomez. Gomez will be repulsed by Beevers, eye-rolling at Roberts, and teasing Jacobi. It would be so much fun

Blimey, I wasn’t expecting this! Great stuff, am looking forward to this a lot. I’m not expecting it to be multi-Master; unless they riff on Roberts going back to Beevers briefly.

The Bekdel Test by Jonathan Morris Animal Instinct by Roy Gill The Lifeboat and the Deathboat by Eddie Robson Concealed Weapon by Scott Handcock
Cast includes Alex Kingston as River Song, obviously, with Eric Roberts, Geoffrey Beevers, Sir Derek Jacobi and Michelle Gomez as their respective incarnations of the Master. Notably, this will be the first time Eric Roberts and Michelle Gomez have played the Master and Missy respectively for Big Finish.

I wonder if Animal Instinct will use the Cheetah Virus from Survival. Bekdel Test is probably Missy, considering what it measures. Since Scott wrote Concealed Weapon, that's likely the War Master.
Interesting we get story titles and writers for this before we get any for the fourth volume.

Bekdel Test is probably Missy, considering what it measures. Not quite. That’s the Bechdel test, which this is riffing on.

Sounds terrible. I am bored of River bumping into different Doctors etc. Can't she have some of her own adventures which don't rely on shoehorning in Dr Who characters?

According to Eddie Robson on Twitter, his is the Eric Roberts story. (Which would suggest via process of elimination that Animal Instinct = Geoffrey Beevers.)

Given we have only the title to work with, it's all up in the air (the best place for it IMO). It's a great collection of writers, and I'm looking forward to Roy Gill's story. His credentials on ranges like Dorian Gray, Dark Shadows and Omega Factor (that last one has a handsome sounding lead actor) are impeccable.

Five Masters is too many? Damn, I was thinking they could have six by bringing in Dreyfus as well! Technically seven if you count the pre-crumpet Beevers Master, as heard in The Two Masters.
