From previous years, I remember that the early download releases were up later in the evening, usually after the TV episodes aired so if we’re getting one I’m expecting it up later. Besides, it makes more sense to do an early release this year since there’s no Who on TV today... I still don’t think so, they were later in the day but it was always the only news article of that day at it was always under day 1 of Big Finishmas which has already been out today. www.bigfinish.com/news/v/12-days-of-big-finishmas-1-the-first-doctorBF prove me wrong pls. Also Merry Christmas to everyone! Yeah, I think you’re right, but I was trying to remain hopeful, haha. But merry Christmas to you!

They don't really look like hypercubes (new or classic series). And the Tally are part of Gallifreyan mythology (or at least the Doctor heard stories about them when they were a child); idk, it's a possibility.

Nice cover. Is it just me or is the Master looking a bit less cadaverous?

Nice cover. Is it just me or is the Master looking a bit less cadaverous? It's not a picture from The Keeper of Traken, but an older Geoffrey Beevers. They used that on Jago and Litefoot 11 as well.

Reckon those are the cubes from Power of Three? I'm excited for this release, River has been on a roll.

The Bekdel Test is a great opening story. It’s essentially a two hander between River and Missy, with a couple of small supporting roles. The two leads make for a brilliant duo, figuring each other out with put downs and banter galore.
It’s nice to have a story set early on in River’s time at Stormcage, in a universe where the Doctor is believed to be dead. It makes for a nice contrast to Missy, who we know is from the Doctor’s future.
I was a bit sceptical about how Michelle Gomez would sound in this, based on the trailer. She’s much better, although I think the Scottish needs to be emphasised a bit more, rather than just the rolling of R’s; I’m not sure if she ever did that on screen? An ever so slight criticism about the overuse and paraphrasing of iconic Doctor Who quotes; I often think they’re more frustrating than funny.
Animal Instinct later on!

I enjoyed the two of them playing off each other in the way that they did, and especially enjoyed the tongue-in-cheek snark about the Doctor I also really appreciated all the little references to other parts of the Whoniverse--the Rani, the Monk, etc. Nice way of continuing to stitch the eras together. I guess in terms of timeline, for River this is very shortly after her (second) time through The Impossible Astronaut and pre-The Wedding of River Song. And for Missy, she's aware of Lake Silencio, but still thinks the Doctor is dead, so she hasn't yet met Twelve--making this the earliest incarnation of Missy that we've yet seen. One thing I'm curious about is the title. Yes I understand the reference, but the correct spelling is "Bechdel," not "Bekdel." I will be interested to find out whether this was a goof, or if it's a hint as to who's behind the prison tests and we'll find out what it means later on in the set.

I don’t want to drag this out into a timeline debate, as I know I’m guilty of doing, but I don’t think what you’re saying is quite right. You're right about River, but I think Missy is from a time where she’s met the Twelfth Doctor. River has it bang on towards the end when she’s sussing Missy out. Unless, of course, we’re talking about the whole Woman in the Shop scenario? Personally, I’d prefer there to be as little before Dark Water / Death in Heaven as possible. I think Steven Moffat set up a nice intended symmetry in World Enough and Time / The Doctor Falls, that I’d hate to be lessened for no particular reason. There’s a good chance I misheard, though, or it’s up for interpretation.

I’d place this between Dismemberment and Deep Breath. Either at some point before she set up the 3W Institute or during the time she was running surveillance on the Doctor.
