Loved reading the article! So interesting to see some parts of the creative process! Also, Tactics of Defeat was fantastic and that lovely speech by Zoe was the absolute cherry on top of a beautiful piece! Thanks very much - hearing Wendy say my words, especially given what they are was really something in studio. Talking of in studio, here's the actual piece I wrote for Hero Collector on recording the Tactics of Defeat

This was a fantastic release, and probably some of my favorite 2nd Doctor stories ever. It had a great mix of stories. The Curator's Egg was a wonderful bit of fun, Dumb Waiter was a fantastic meeting of the Doctor's friends from two very different eras, Iron Lady was a great historical, and the Tactics Of Defeat was such an original story that called back to Two's era without him entering the story at all. Great job Tony Jones !! What a fantastic finale! Many thanks - writing the story in isolation of the others added to the mix. When I listened to the boxset (after listing to my story first a few times!) I have to say I was struck by how dark mine was compared to the lovely opening story. I think Ian Atkins deserves a lot of praise for the creative control he has over these.

Say, does anyone know what's happening regarding the competition to win a copy of the artwork? Is that something that's going to be announced in the upcoming podcast or something like that? I don't suppose anyone's heard anything about this yet? At this point I'm assuming it was just shipped out to someone with the release itself with no fanfare (unlike other Big Finish competitions where they publicly announce the winner)?

But I fully appreciate that Ian has probably been swept off his feet with the Paul Spragg comp (if it's anything like the last couple of years he must have about a thousand entries to read; I doubt any of us envy him that job)

An odd one this but does anybody know what stories Helen Goldwyn directed and which ones Lisa Bowerman. It's just that they are both listed as directors for the series instead of individual stories.

{Spoiler} Deakin runs a rouge Ex-UNIT Team whose catured the Doctor and is trying to get acess to the TARDIS Thinking he'd end up the current version from his perspective (10 or 11) his operatives have tried stealing 10s damaged Sonic to use as a key injuring Charlie Sato in the process (Short Trip Turn of the Screw) Ruth is there to avenge the assault, and then it becomes a situation of how far would you go for the greater good. I'm sorry, but could somebody explain the plot of "Tactics" to me? I'm completely lost. Regards

Several, I'm afraid.
{Spoiler} Why are the Doctor and Jamie unconcious?
Why does Ruth think that Zoe is dead?
Why is Zoe recording things anyway?
How many sonic screwdrivers are there -the one at the end is, I gather, supposed to be the eleventh Doctor's, but is the fifth Doctor's one from "The Visitation" also amongst the junk being traded?
Thanks

{Spoiler}Regarding Ruth thinking Zoe is dead, she's listened to the recording up the point where Zoe appears to die, and the midpoint of the episode is where Ruth realises Zoe is about to make the recording she (Ruth) has been listening to. When Ruth witnesses the event play out, she see's Zoe's body vanish and because she was led to believe it was some kind of mining charge, Ruth believes Zoe has died.
Basically it's a self-fulfilling prophecy, with Zoe taking advantage of the gaps in Ruth's foreknowledge and lack of knowledge to gain an advantage over Deakin while keeping events consistent.

Basically it's a self-fulfilling prophecy, with Zoe taking advantage of the gaps in Ruth's foreknowledge and lack of knowledge to gain an advantage over Deakin while keeping events consistent. Just to confirm: {Spoiler}The Doctor and Jamie get shot by Deakin - he explains this and is annoyed Zoe wasn't affected. Ruth asked if they were dead and he said no, just stunned
Ruth thinks Zoe is dead a) from the recording and b) from the apparent suicide she was involved in
Zoe isn't recording, she recognises the recorder as part of the TARDIS flight log and explains the Doctor and Jamie had been using it to monitor local comms, and happened to tap into Deakin's monitoring system
There are lots of clues to the Visitation, including Fire of London, plague, TARDIS detector. Other screwdrivers are up to the imagination. There's an idea about who collects all the junk left behind after the Doctor does his stuff

That was a really good story, Tony Jones. I think it was my favorite of the bunch. I still have this set of stories on my iPod for a re-listen one of these fine days.

And even if I say so myself, the latest DWM has a good review of the set!
