Slightly surprised this one hasn't been mentioned here yet, but Bafflegab is apparently going to releasing a dramatisation of this M.R. James story. (And I say 'apparently' just to be safe - it's been mentioned on Bafflegab's Facebook page so expect unless the wheels fall off unexpectedly) Information from adaption author Stephen Gallagher at Vampire Squid website.

An adaption of an MR James story, by Stephen Gallagher, starring Reece Shearsmith? I'll be having a bit of that, thank you very much. I'm becoming as excited about Bafflegab's output as I am about stuff from Big Finish at the moment.

Any more news on the Casting the Runes adaptation? Not exactly, although potentially more excitingly, an extract of a script that was identified by non-Bafflegab poster as being part of an adaptation of another MR James story - Lost Hearts. When asked if this was a one-off production, the 'Bafflegab Productions' user replied, "No, part of a series". A series of MR James adaptations may be in the works, but we'll have to wait and see! (BTW, Bafflegab on Facebook here)

Simon, any details on this? Um... not sure if I'm allowed to say yet. I guess I can say this... we've been working on a series of modern-day adaptations of stories by a well-known writer of the supernatural (who may or may not be M.R. James). And that they're being released as a set in December by Audible. There are lots of very good actors and writers involved. But keep it under your hat.

If I absolutely promised to keep this under my hat also, would there be any possibility of a further release outside Audible, like Bandcamp or somesuch? I'll keep me gob shut!

I’ll certainly keep it under my hat, but are they only going to be on audible or is there a possibility that we’ll get a CD release later in the future like we did before for Blood on Satan’s Claw

The recent Indicator bluray of Night Of The Demon has a BBC Radio version from 1947 and an audio reading of the text by Michael Hordern for those who want other audio options

This one is just Audible, but we have other non-Audible stuff coming up too of a similar ilk..
