Wow! that surprises me. I know nothing about the industry and the costs involved, but it surprises me all the same that the physical costs are as much as they are.
If this is correct, then arguably the cheaper price for downloads is not cheap enough, does this mean downloaders are in effect subsiding CD buyers?
I've always maintained this is the case, whenever I've tried to work out the economics of the situation, even going back several years, it always seemed to me that downloader over paid whilst CD buyer under paid. Look much as i feel sadness...do you really want me to freeze to death?

Don't get me wrong - CD production obviously incurs additional costs, but it's not half the overall cost of production. Prices generally dictate this, so there's no cases of downloaders subsidising. It's just reality that drama (audio or otherwise) isn't cheap...

Apologise if I got it wrong, thatβs just how my memory recalled what he said.....but perhaps he said a sizeable amount...... but he went on to mention the B work and how it will only get more expensive to produce them and there was only one cd plant.

I would buy and preorder the originals range if they were Cd but if i donβt listen i wonβt miss.Am sure if they even said limited release of 100 then they could gauge the popularity. They are already i guess concluding they are not worth putting on CD. they are such a great company with high standards it feels as if they have no confidence in their own productions what if i paid for the download and they did a u turn would i then have to pay for the cd...its tricky No you only pay for the difference between the CD price and the download price

100% Physical for me, unless the release has always been download only.

Physical for me so well. One of the main reasons is money. I don't buy from big finish themselves as I can always buy the physical product cheaper elsewhere, which is always cheaper than the download price.

I am getting a courtesy car tomorrow for a couple of days while mine is in for some repairs - asked for one with a CD player and told they don't have any. Aargh!!!
But no doubt a sign of things to come. The last time I bought a new car (not personally, I buy them in work for sales reps) I was told that CD players are harder and harder to get.
For me personally, once I can no longer get a car with a CD player I think that will be me moving over to download only. Never thought I'd be saying that, but there you have it.

Even though I have a CD player in my car, it's been a while since I've used the car's CD player. I use my iPod and a portable speaker in the car. I love it when I get a rental car and can plug my iPod or phone right into the car's sound system.

Physical all the way. I have no interest in downloads. To the extent I would probably stop getting BF stuff if they went download only. Though I still can't see that happening for a while yet.
