If you've got any ideas for kinds of stories you'd like to hear or think that would make interesting stories, here's the place to lay them out.
Me, I like how the Dark Shadows release Beyond the Grave is in the format of a found footage feature. Lots of stories have clips of in-universe broadcasts and films (the story Special Features from the Demons of Red Lodge Fifth Doctor anthology release). I reckon an episode in the form of a reality show off-air audio recording could have potential. Maybe Benny or Iris in some space survival game show, where they have to solve puzzles to survive the fictional scenario, only as the listener expects it becomes a real scenario. You get the contestant introductions, talking head interviews, ads (Beyond the Grave had some good ones) etc. The Benny story Big Dig was framed around her guest starring on daytime archaeology show, but didn't have the show footage on all the time. You get Benny forced to bounce off the more dimwitted contestants who don't realise its not a show anymore, an added source of problems for her.

So we've had HG Wells, we've had Shakespeare. What other books/plays/movies etc would you like to see BF do?
I'd love to see a version of The Name of the Rose (the movie not the book). Colin Baker would be great as William of Baskerville, & Alexander Vlahos as Adso.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Julie's Verne: It would be a perfect counterpart to the H. G. Wells series.

Although I would love to hear some audios with Colin Baker as William of Baskerville, seeing as the book was only written in 1980 I think Big Finish securing the rights would be cost prohibitive. They are understandably more interested in original property of those whose copyright is out or date. I have said before that I would like a Scarlet Pimpernel audio series as I think Big Finish could do some interesting thinks with the character and perhaps develop the League of Scarlet.

Would love to hear Dennis Wheatley's Duke de Richleau books adapted. Thriller, occult, adventure, detective....they've got something for everyone. Still in copyright though.
I've always wanted an Adam Adamant Lives revival too. One of the most underrated cult shows of the 60s. Much more consistent than the more famous likes of The Avengers or The Saint.
And Sexton Blake - I've been hoping someone revives this for years.
Quatermass would be cool IF it was a limited series. Part of the greatness of Quatermass is that the events of the stories are seismic. They're not just another day in the continuing adventures of Bernard Quatermass. The rights are a nightmare though.
Box Of Delights as a Christmas Classics release would be fab.

I would like to see dramatisations of Margery Allingham's Campion books. This has been raised with Big Finish in the past, but Nick Briggs has stated that he does not feel there would be sufficient interest, that it is a bit too niche.
Given that penguin successfully released abridged readings with Phillip Franks, and that Peter Davison played Campion in the TV series, I suspect that demand would be a lot greater than he perceives.

I’ll go back to my standby of Barnaby Edwards adapting Tarzan. Yes! We have never had a truly pulp adaptation of the pulp novels. & the author's Barsoom books would be great.

I’d gladly lay down the credit card for some John Carter adaptations as well. The other thing I would love to hear are adaptations of Greek mythology.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Aristophanes plays. They were written to have minimalist casts (two or three) with actors doubling up on roles, and the chorus expositioning. Cicero shows that there's demand for classical material, and Scott Handcock has shown interest in adapting Aristophanes plays.

I can see what Nick would mean there though. Something like Star Cops or some of the Gerry Anderson properties BF have made are pretty niche too but what they do have is small but very, very dedicated fanbases and are similar enough to Doctor Who that they can tempt curious newbies. Ditto The Prisoner. For all the "It's just a Nick vanity project" The Prisoner is an established commercial property and to this day has a diehard fanbase. Vol. 1 and 2 got a lot of buzz from the likes of the Unmutual Society. As did Terrahawks and Captain Scarlett with Fanderson con etc.
Those properties might seem as niche as, say, Campion but they're more commercial and have more chance of crossing over to BF's existing base. As much as part of BF is a labour of love they're still a business and I'm sure there are loads of things Nick, Jason and co would love to do - and could do well - but they'd never make it out of the red.

Even Callan? The first time I'd ever heard of it was when Big Finish announced they were doing the audios. It hasn't permeated pop culture or cult following as far as I can see.

Nick Briggs thinks that there is something "too niche" for Big Finish? Nick Briggs? Prisoner and Callan Nick Briggs? So if he likes something it gets a series, but if he doesn't it's too niche? Unfair comparison purely designed for a pop at Nick - and not even remotely looking at the properties in question. Take the tired Nick bashing out the equation and The Prisoner is a much bigger deal than Campion ever has been regardless of any subjective opinion. It's widely considered one of the greatest TV shows ever made, has had remakes, comics and even Simpsons parodies. You'd have to go a long way to convince anyone that The Prisoner is anywhere near as niche as Campion. Just because Nick loves the show doesn't mean it's not also a good commercial idea. And Callan was a BAFTA winning TV smash hit that proved popular enough to make the jump to the cinema, got a standalone feature documentary a couple of years ago and has been a big DVD seller for Network who commissioned Andrew Pixley to write a book on the show to compliment the success of the DVDs. Again....that's quite a solid foundation for BF to take a chance on. They're not getting commissioned just because Nick likes them. That's nonsense. It's a business. God forbid he should be passionate about what he does.

I haven't been in Britain or America, or around British or American culture to a huge extent (to me Hamilton is a city in the Waikato region), so a lot of these cultural institutions fly right over my head, like Patsy whatshername who guest starred in January's Main Range release. Believe it or not, Big Finish was my introduction to David Warner. Due to moving around a lot when I was younger, it was only when I got the chance to not move between countries a lot I was able to develop cultural touchstones. Andrew Pixley, who has done research into Classic Who and sometimes does stuff for Doctor Who Magazine?
