The counter to 'Completely ridiculous spinoff boxset ideas' - what do you want?
I'd love 'Ther Sarah Jane Chronicles' or 'Rose Tyler: Earth Defence'
We've got The First Doctor Adventures now, but Nick Briggs wanted to adapt 'an Exciting Adventure with the Daleks' using that cast

An adaptation of the 6th Doctor comics Voyager, World Game and The World Shapers. And I'm not sure how Once Upon A Timelord would work on audio but I'll pay to find out. World Shapers would work really well though - Sixie, Jamie, Frobisher, Peri, Voord, Mndasian Cybermen - and all written by superstar comic writer Grant Morrison.

That ending might end up even freakier on audio. Astrolabus, shouting and baying: "Made it! I'm in the clear! Out in the open! Untrammelled! Unshackled! Free! If I can just make it to the next episode!" As he speaks, every other bit of noise in the soundscape slowly drops away: the castle, the whipcracks, the merry-go-round, all of it. Until there's only the wind -- this haunting, ethereal thing, not made of sand or dust, but something else -- and somehow we know. He knows. Voyager has arrived to reclaim what's rightfully his. Oh. Oh, I'm actually kind of disappointed this isn't a thing now. Oh, well. The Gift too just for the sheer wacky Raygun Gothic-style madness. A music-hating mad scientist unleashes self-replicating robots against a planet of swinging 1930s gangsters (yup, yup) led by his brother. I think the production guys would have a field day with the kind of soundscapes coming out of Planet Zazz; the Doctor at the head of a marching band leading onto a tramp steamer, the disassembly of a city piece-by-piece, etc.

If you've seen the Stripped FOr Action features on the DVD range the attitude seems to have been that the guys didn't care for the TV show so just made up their own Sixth Doctor filtered through 2000AD. It certainly worked for me. It's not "faithful" to the show but it's a wonderfully imaginative strip.

I liked the general ethos they built up in Voyager of: "Oh, yeah, the Time Lords are big and powerful, no mistake, but... there's always a bigger fish." There's some wonderful imagery in there (particularly if you can find the Marvel 1989 colour reprint, it's gorgeously inked). I've also got a soft spot for the strips that came after Parkhouse as well. The rotation of writers gave it a nice sense of variety. One week we're in an Asimovian mystery, after that a Hellblazer-like dystopia, then a zippy Fireball XL-5 episode. And weirdly enough, it never feels like too much of a jump between styles and tones. It all somehow clicks together rather snugly.

Yes, but the thing is why BF haven't jumped on it - it's a bit frustrating and baffling.

That would be awesome news.. Utilise as many of the companions that are ready willing and able .
Unfortunately(or fortunately) we got 1 season with Mary Tamm - I believe that season was originally intended for Elisabeth Sladen if memory serves me correct?
Variety in companions etc keeps things fresh IMHO

Mel's 1st story (Wrong Drs isn't it, it is more of a false start)
More Raine
Paul Darrow doing a 3rd Dr CC as his character from the Silurians
More pre-Kate unit with Chaudry, Mace, Malcolm, Martha etc
And most of all... More novel adaptations
5 getting a good long break from Nyssa
7 getting a good long break from Ace
4 getting a good long break from Leela

It all somehow clicks together rather snugly. The War Game story with the stranded Draconian warlord is a long-time favourite of mine and would be a magnificent Short Trip narrated by Frobisher. As would the "...'s Story" series which could have a different narrator for each chapter. But Voyager, World-Shapers and Time Bomb would be something pretty special as well.

The season wasn’t intended for Elisabeth Sladen as such, I think that’s collating different things. I wasn’t in on the original plans, so I could be slightly wrong, but I think at least some of the thinking was that the Conglomerate arc would be a story for SJS, one for Leela, one for Romana 1. Meaning that only Sands was originally intended for SJS and the only one Mary didn’t do was the one she was originally lined up for. But they were all storylined and scripted with their eventual performers and everything else in that run started with Mary.
