So, someone took the addage of 'don't like, make your own' and intends to do a big budget remake of TLJ. Apparently, they have a 'whole team' of 'professionals' involved and somehow intend to talk to Disney adn get them to play ball as a legit release .
Okay, 99% certain this is a giant joke: a super troll doing one long pisstake of the divided and reactionary SW fanbase, preying on the hyperbolic and gullible.
On the 1% that it's not... where does one start? - Never mind Disney and Lucasfilm would never allow this and drain the entire budget on legal fees.
- Never mind that there's no way in Tattoine you can have such micromanaging of the screenplay with undoable amounts of input from fans.
- Never mind that no one interested in a career in film development or production would sign onto this as a legitimate career move.
- Never mind one of the major actors is dead and thus their character, a key component of Last Jedi, can't be used.
- Never mind that no distributor would pick it up and uploading it to Youtube would never recoup the costs, assuming it's not hit by a tidal wave of copyright claims.
- Never mind the sheer complexity of effects-heavy filmmaking: even cheap short films take months of blood, sweat and tears (speaking from hard experience).
- Never mind that this is actually incredibly disrespectful of SW's origins as a scrappy, vision driven indie by a young maverick, as it's a product that exists solely to pander, produced by a committee.
Projects like these are always doomed. A couple of thousand-a few hundred thousand cannot affect a property whose decisions have to made with considerations for millions. Remember the petitions to get Affleck fired from BvS? Remember the ones for Lucas to direct Ep. 9? Remember the millions for Lucas to release uncut unaltered version of the OT, or take Jar Jar out of the Prequels, or for the Prequels to be non-canon?

I cannot criticise what i have yet to see, but fail to comprehend what the issue is for so many of these hard boiled Star Wars fans.
As good as The Empire Strikes Back is, i always return to the original for its sheer simplicity, a fairy tale/western mashup. I saw both at the cinema first time around, so the whole thing has been with me since my formative years.
The prequels, misstep as they were, at least tried to be different/distinct. The new films, good as they no doubt are, reading critical analysis, suffer from being constrained by fidelity to the original trilogy. Sound effects, costumes, FX all have to have a trademark look and feel of something thrown together in 1977. There is a danger of becoming formulaic as the Bond films are becoming - a greatest hits of what has come before. At least the new films are pushing story lines to subvert expectations, albeit within the aforementioned constraints. Is it that these fans want all things to be predictable?
I recommend anyone to search the New Yorker magazine online for an analysis of the issues Disney is falling into, with too much concern for the heritage of the brand and the difficulties in appeasing conservative middle aged fans, wanting to relive their distant formative years.
Doesn't it sound familiar regards older fans of a certain long running TV show?

Ugh. What a waste of time.
Unhappy with a movie? Well then move on and don't watch it again. Your favourite films are still there to watch.

It's got to be a scam, right? On the otherhand, the internet is the internet....

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

People tried changing the ending of Lear right up until the 19th Century so that it had a happy ending. Others need to remember that this is a trilogy and that things won't be properly contextualised until the release of the third movie.

the stuff story/mythology that's wrong in ep8 and yes there are things that are just wrong, will be put right/reset or just ignored in EP9, they will get it back on track I wish the fanboys would stop worrying about it.....Disney has got the message.
lukes story was handled so badly not using r2 with him was a travesty, its fine to have him grumpy but the lightsabre/lazersword joke and blue milk stuff were neither funny nor In character but its done now that cannot be changed we have to live with it.
the force wielding "leia poppins" floating back home will be ignored much like the half human doctor is...…
the rest well, its not that bad......I expect rose will go the way of jar jar binks.....phasma will be back.....and we will either find out more about snoke or find hes not a gonna after all.
solo's given them a bloody nose at the box office watch the TV stuff get a boost for the streaming service.
remaking it.....well its just another way to keep ramming home to Disney how they dropped the ball...…but its never gonna happen......would not be surprise if its all coming from Disney just to keep up the hype
I expected that the ryan Johnston trilogy will either get dropped, become 1 film or a TV trilogy. he's not a great director, his previous efforts were clever but terribly made as is last jedi,
and some stuff that's just stupid and stuff put in there for change sake will be sort in the most part by ep 9......its the middle chapter......I remember as a 10 year old thinking luke and vader as father n son was stupid. but Disney know they need to make amends.
remaking is just a venting for the huge disappointment that last jedi turned out

So like e8 ignored loads of plot ideas for from e7 e9 will do the same to.its predecessor? What an unwatchable mess this trilogy is. They clearly had no idea what the central plot was & now the latest rumour is that Ewan McGregor will be back in e9! Star Wars is over.

I'll believe that in a million years. If polarizing stories were all it took to break any franchise, let alone one with the durability and mileage of SW... yeah, pretty much all media would dead at that point.

I wouldn’t mind a fan edit of Last Jedi potentially cutting back some of the middle where it drags...also cut the stupid Leia survives in deep space thing.

Okay, think we've rung all we could from this slice of idiocy. So, because I couldn't put this anywhere else, here's a new book of fitting interest. Maybe they should request a review copy:
