There'd never be a budget for full cast audios of the shows but a New Frontier-like approach with an all new cast in full audio would be cool. What Star Trek regulars have done BF? Alexander Siddig of course. Colin and Nicola have done Continues fan vids.
Like I said on the other thread, fan response to Prometheus 1 (it's multi-part) was not exactly glowing. Its one of the more under the radar ranges of the plethora of mini-series we've had in the past decade since the relaunch. I've not read it so would be open minded but it's not where I think anyone would imagine a BF Trek range would start, so might be a ituation where BF and their logistics are being comissioned to make these rather than having free range over the licence. I'd err on the side of caution in assuming the sandbox they can play in is very large.

Still, if the audiobooks sell, maybe they'll end up continuing with the crew of the Prometheus but creating their own, interesting stories for them, after they adapt the novels? I wouldn't expect any full cast stories with original TV crews though, but some might end up making guest appearances.

Also Simon Pegg (Scotty from the Kelvin movies). And Chase Masterson (Vienna Salvatori), while not a ST regular, had a recurring role on DS9.

Well, this is definitely unexpected. Star Trek audios could be great, especially if they're able to get the rights/actors to continue some of the shows (or adapt the books that do).

“Underwhelming” isn’t precisely the word I’d use to describe the book. “Actively disengaging” is closer to the point. I’d almost go as far as saying “not good Star Trek”, theres something about it that’s “off colour” about it, something that doesn’t feel like Star Trek.

I have to admit that seeing the words Big Finish and Star Trek together is still kind of blowing my mind.

Even if the Prometheus books are not great, it's still a start that might lead to more Star Trek from Big Finish in the future, hopefully written by BF regulars.

I will definitely give it a try. I'm not especially into Star Trek books, but if anyone can do it right, it's Big Finish.

I'd read much the same on Facebook reviews of the first translated volume last year - what specifically isn't Trek-y about it, or is it a tonal thing?

I was underwhelmed by the tease, so I'm not too enthused about this. Guess we'll see how it sounds. Could be interesting.

A German company has remade BF's 10th Doctor audios, now BF is adapting a German Star Trek series. I wonder if there's a connection there?
(By all accounts, 'Prometheus' isn't very good, but fingers crossed we might get some Companion Chronicle-type things. I doubt we'd get Shatner, or even Simon Pegg at this stage of his career, but there are a number of possibilities. Come to think of it, Sylvester McCoy is now pals with Robert Picardo, what odds his working for BF in some capacity at some stage?)

Looks like you're bang on, it's Bastei Lübbe who seem to be responsible for a lot of German DW publishing - both versions of BBC Books & Big Finish content - and list audios of Star Trek Prometheus. They were also behind The Sigmund Freud Files which BF released about three years ago.

Count me in as one who is unenthusiastic about this release. Don't get me wrong, I have always enjoyed Star Trek (other than Enterprise which was painful), but I honestly can't be bothered to follow it anymore. I haven't seen the latest tv series and haven't bothered with the most recent movie yet - as for the books, it has been 20 years since I last read one. Hope it does well, or at least better than Stargate did.
