Seriously though ..... USS Titan full cast audios. Established characters who have no established actors barring Tim Russ, Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis and Daphne Ashbrook. And Riker, Tuvok anf Troi can all be easily written out as Riker’s an Admiral now so he and Troi can be transferred off Ship for the stories and Tuvok be off providing security of them.

A few familiar voices would be good though. How about Captain Geordi LaForge of the USS Challenger?

I would LOVE for Big Finish to do proper 24th-century Star Trek. But let's keep some perspective about how likely that is to happen - this is a seriously low-key launch for what has to be the lowest-hanging fruit they could find, licensing-wise. I wonder if this proposition was ever given more but the most cursory of glances by CBS? Maybe this'll be the start of something. I really hope so. But I can't see it coming straight off the back of this, a straight audiobook reading of a translated edition of a one-off German trilogy of novels produced entirely separately from the usual publisher etc.

I hope they do some of the other novels too. I’ve been looking for an audiobook of Star Trek: Destiny for years, but it only seems to exist in German.

Ugh, I'm undecided as to if I want to go for this one. As someone who has done audio sound design (on a fan-fiction level) for a Star Trek audio drama series for several years now, I'm not sure if I would be annoyed by a "straight reading" - because I'd likely be constantly analyzing it thinking about what sound effects needed to be in every scene.

Showed this to a Trekkie friend of mine. He was uninterested.

I'm really quite conflicted by this. On the one hand, I love Star Trek and Big Finish, so I would love to see BF able to produce more Star Trek related material but on the other hand, blimey reviews of this novel really aren't good at all. And audio books aren't something I'm really into....I'd rather just read the thing myself.

I'd say we're all more excited here about this potentially leading to Star Trek dramas actually written by Big Finish people than about this release itself.

Star Trek is something I have tried and failed to enjoy a number of times at this point so no, this release ain’t for me.

Has anyone actually, you know, bought this? I was wondering the same. I want to support BF doing this, but German fiction does not always translate well into English, which is probably why people describe the tone of these as being "off". Here's hoping a longer extract is released soon.

If they do any full cast audios in the TOS era, David Warner appearing as Gorkon is a must.
If they do any full cast audios in the TNG era and beyond, David Warner appearing as Gul Madred is a must.

I'd say we're all more excited here about this potentially leading to Star Trek dramas actually written by Big Finish people than about this release itself. As PDT says above, if this were some other adaptation we may well be much more excited but as adaptations of the German sub-licence books it's really not the keys to the kingdom that really would get fans buzzing. Even BF seem to know it's not going to get people too excited given the complete absence of hype for the announcement. If there was a licence for full cast Trek that would be teased all over their social media for ages before announcing. I'd rather not get my hopes up, honestly.

They might treat it as their foot in the door that might end up helping them get full-cast ST license. Just like Benny kind of was with Doctor Who.

To that end, it would be nice if Big Finish would give us some kind of clue as to any potential future between them & Star Trek. I understand that they probably can't but if I knew future projects were potentially a thing, I would be much more inclined to give this a purchase.
