If he's who I think you're talking about... he's just another curmudgeon who wants pieces of plastic to validate him.
Me? The logo's fine: works better on some things than others, but Big Finish have adapted to it quite well (the Red Plants cover is gorgeous) and like anything, we'll get used to it. We got used to RTD's rocket logo, after all.

I personally wasn't a fan when Big Finish released The Sirens of Time, but I doubt there was a similar outcry about the Pertwee/McGann logo being used on (shock!) a Davison/Baker/McCoy release! It'll just take some time for the fans (and the designers) to get used to.
And if it's the YouTuber I think you're talking about, I used to agree with *some* of his points, but had to unsubscribe because I don't need that level of negativity in my life, particularly about just a TV series.

Looking at some of the new covers by Big Finish it does add a certain slickness to them and opens up the artwork.

I think the new logo's okay - the Who part is kinda cool although the Doctor part doesn't strike me as half as interesting. To be honest, I think I too am against putting the Jodie Logo on things with Doctors who aren't played by Jodie, and am still uncomfortable seeing it hanging over Colin or Sylvester's heads on Big Finish covers. That's still going to take me some more getting used to. I'm not nearly as bent out of shape over it as to make a video about it, though, and so far it really hasn't harmed my Big Finish listening enjoyment in the least. There are actually some amazing covers coming out, too, even for having totally the wrong logo on them

I mean... Having the current logo on licenced media regardless of whether it matches the era portrayed has been a thing for donkey's. I'm sure it's a total coincidence that people are only starting to majorly grouse about it now and that it has nothing at all to do with anything else related to the upcoming era that has ruffled certain unsavory elements.

My preference would be for the new logo not to be used at all, I just think it weak, bland and ineffectual as a brand mark. Whether one era should use another eras logo? I think a product range would be best to choose a logo and stick to that for the ranges lifetime, but other than that, use the logo that seems best at the time.

I don't care about logos matching eras per se but I do think the new Doctor Who logo looks odd on some things; the 7th Doctor Titan comics for instance. However it looks great on the recent Tom Baker Collection Blu-ray package and outstanding on the two recent Colin Baker Main Range releases. So I'd say the colours used for the logo/background have a lot to do with what appeals to my eyes sensitivities and whether I like it or not.

It does seem strange to suddenly start using the new logo on Big Finish merchandise, when they've stuck with the classic logo(s) for releases between 2005 and 2017.

I think it's just a different mandate from the production team and the BBC - this time around, everything has to match. Before, they didn't care. Who knows what the difference is this time around - could be Chibnall, could be some marketing execs.

If you're referring to Bowlstrek then you really should watch his latest video where he criticizes Jodie Whittaker Pop Vinyls and merchandise in a way that, seemingly, he never did with previous Pop Vinyls which all look pretty much the same. It's almost as if he's trying to justify a deep hatred for Whittaker's casting. You may speculate on the root cause of that. I'm calling it on some of the comments below the video though, those people are sexist misogynists.

They are the cheapest and nastiest toy ever created. And, whilst I'm on merchandise. The BBC have released a Jodie toy doll, no figurine release, but a doll?

Pop Vinyls being horrendous pieces of tat is neither here nor there, the issue is that this particular YouTube contributor is aiming a level of venom and bile at Jodie's pop vinyl that he strangely doesn't seem to do to, for example, any male Doctor's figure. They released a Tom Baker doll back in the day too so not sure what your point is there. I'm sure that an articulated figure will be forthcoming in due course.

The only difference between the Tennant and Whittaker one is that the Whittaker one is 2 inches smaller.

Id say it would be odd if it were not for how dead the five inch figures have been recently. I mean isnt it that theres only been 3 five inch scale capaldi figures throughout his entire era? or four if you count the two capaldi head sculpts. I imagine eventually one will be realesed but yeah the action figures havent been prioritised for years.
