BBC or RTE Radio Dramas; too numerous to mention them all, but McLevy, Baldi, Sherlock Holmes (Merrison), Poirot (Moffat), Marple (Whitfield) and Paul Temple mysteries are up their with my faves. RTE excelled with their Ulysses adaptation many years ago too.
Bafflegabs's The Scarifyers series, their Hammer Horror series and more recently their adaptation of Blood on Satan's Claw are all very enjoyable in their own right and highly recommended.
Sherwood Sound's recent War of the Worlds adaptation The Coming of the Martians is top notch too.
Some of the Graphic Audio Marvel stuff is very good as well, but not all of them and they are an acquired taste. Spider-Man Kraven's Last Hunt is really good though.
The 'Audible Original' Aliens and The X-Files dramatisations are worth a listen too...
I love radio/audio drama, I could probably go on all day...

I always go back to "Hitchikers Guide.." I was obsessed with that in the mid/late 80's. Still holds up to this day IMO.

Just listening to it now actually, I think it's my favourite version of the Hitchhiker's stories. I'm up to Adams as Agrajag lambasting Arthur for the various unfortunate ends to his various reincarnations. Let's see, off the top of my head... - The Radio 4 adaptation of The Caves of Steel is great. Stars Ed Bishop as a human investigator and Sam Dastor as his android partner. The banter between them just glitters in a nice Blade Runner-esque murder mystery. - The James Bond radio dramas with Toby Stephens as Bond are a great bit of... Well, I guess nowadays you'd call them historical fiction. Much closer to the stale beer of something like Callan or very early Avengers, than the dry martinis of the films. An interesting new twist on a well-explored idea. - Audible's full cast reading of Dune was very nicely done, the atmosphere was just seamless. I forgot about 3/5ths of the way in that it wasn't originally written to be spoken aloud. It really comes alive. - National Public Radio's Star Wars radio plays are a fascinating listen, colouring in all that was left unsaid in the films (we even get to see Alderaan up close in its heyday). - Kaldor City from Magic Bullet Productions is a great exploration of events after The Robots of Death and maybe Blake's 7 if you feel so inclined with Paul Darrow's character.

Yes i have loved the Dunes very professionally done though they did cost a bit lol on iTunes. James Bond i thought the CDs were just readings are they dramatisations? Kaldor City-no isn’t that a crossover i really hate crossovers and the need to fit everything into one Universe. It is a pet dislike of mines.I like my separate Universes i dont need everything neatly tied up. Caves of steel I do not know will look into that one. thanks by way to everyone for suggestions.

I was still in university at the time, so I remember my thinking behind the purchase being: "Eh, who's going to notice under all that student debt?" A solid investment as it turns out, Dune made up a large chunk of my journeys to and from campus. Oh, there are definitely some readings floating around, but Stephens is also the lead in a series of radio dramas directed by Martin Jarvis. They do one every year or so with some fairly big names. David Suchet plays Dr. No, Ian McKellen is Goldfinger, Rosamund Pike is Miss Galore and so on. You can take that interpretation with Kaldor City, but it's left very open to the listener. Iago is written distinct enough that he's his own character, an assassin-for-hire with some very nasty scruples. The series primarily follows Uvanov and a force using the city for their own ends. Happy to contribute. ^_^

Regarding Agatha Raison I have the CD collection and enjoy them very much. And would wholeheartedly recommend them.
I could never understand why the BBC stopped making them.
MC Beaton is still writing a Agatha Raison book each year, so it cannot be because they ran out of stories!
However, as is often the case, the audios did make several changes from the novels, but there was no reason for them not to go on longer.

I think it was because of the TV series that was in development that lasted a season which although different was still excellent and now they have started filming a second season due to popular demand Agatha styled companion for the Doctor...but peters sake not a crossover lol

She is fairly different in all three mediums! The TV version reminded me of Majenta Price from the Tenth Doctor comic strip in DWM. I have wanted to hear her on audio for a long time. And of course on television her love interest was Ian Chesterton, I mean Jamie Glover.

Another recommendation for Bafflegab's Hammer Chillers and Blood on Satan's Claw. Apart from the BBC's Doctor Who range (especially the soundtracks to mainly lost television stories), the Beeb's adaptions of Charles Dickens (including Uncle Tom Baker's reading of A Christmas Carol) are favourites of mine.
There's also this: Riuchard Coyles' reading of HP Lovecraft's Shadow Over Innsmouth, which is exceptional - and free!
Also, Fantom Films have a selection of horror stories (mainly abridged) and read by the mighty Sir Christopher Lee. Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde is a cracker!

Knew there would be a sensible reason lol But definitely a great Audio and Tv and book character as for Penelope and a tea shop....in Scotland did she think the weather here was in her favour lol
