Halfway through the set and I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would. Question though, when was the last time we had a release run under 40 minutes? Episode two clocked in at 37 minutes and change. Anyway, I enjoyed the story and as a writer I once knew said, good stories are just the right length, I just thought it was a really light running time.

Does he cover New Zealand?

It was good though!

No one in the production team has flat out denied that the Kate Stewart in Downtime is the same one in the new series. according to the tardis wikia they are the same person. But, i'm still a newbie in the UNIT series stuff, and I haven't even seen Downtime in since the 90's I guess it was.

Chris Chibnall has said, more than once, he was unaware of Kate in Downtime and it's a complete coincidence that he picked the name. Now, whether you believe him or not is up to you but I don't see why the writer - and now showrunner - would have a reason to lie about it. Having checked, it seems a few on TARDIS Wikia do indeed think he's lying. tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Talk:Kate_Stewart

If Big Finish is allowed to reference Downtime, I'd love to hear Gordy (Kate's son, a kid in Downtime) in a future box set. It'd be an organic way to develop Kate as a character and what she's like as a parent (did her work make her something of a neglectful parent like the Brig was?) and possibly expand into how she got into UNIT. Gordon might be involved in the latest threat, and Kate has the moral dilemma of sacrificing him to stop the threat or saving him at the cost of the world. A cameo by Klein or Yates as part of the 90's UNIT would be amazing, and Kate's desire to not rely on her father's reputation would easily facilitate the Brigadier not being in the flashbacks. A glimpse of the earlier UNIT could seed a development that would be paid off in the present day.

Nothing to actively contradict them being the same apart from, you know, the writer saying so. Plagiarism is a serious accusation and if Chibnall says its coincidence, I think we have to take him at his word without evidence that he did copy the idea. He says he never read spin-off novels or watched fan-made films. They can obviously use the "new" Kate. I doubt anyone at BF is losing sleep over getting Downtime continuity in there or not.

To avoid having to pay royalties to Marc Platt? Not saying he is lying, just that there might be a possible reason if he is
