Hello again. Time for part two.
I took Timelord007's advice and read some of Mr Bradley's Basement reviews of the Davison era. Very informative and interesting to see his timeline too.
I started the 5th Doctor and Team 80s Tardis collection on BBC Radio 4Extra with Cobwebs, Whispering Forest and Cradle of the Snake. It was great to hear the TARDIS crew of my youth.
The stories were interesting and I soon purchased a few more when they appeared in the sale. A very diverse set of stories. I started with the hilarious Sontar's Army. Heroes of Sontar was a romp with Tegan having a whale of a time insulting these rather dense soldiers.
The Emerald Tiger was a mystical and immersive experience that I found fascinating to listen to. A great guest cast too.
The Butcher of Brisbane was grim and scary. Lots of sacrifices made and that evil Findaker was very creepy. Nyssa and Turlough's role in the story was different to what they usually did on TV.
My journey finished with Prisoners of Fate. Ow my head hurts. Some great ideas with a vengeful TARDIS, an awful decision for Nyssa and a Doctor desperate to put things right.
The Fifth Doctor is a grittier character on audio. He is more used to the foibles of his companions and let's them get on with it. The interplay between him and the t'riffic trio has been a treat to listen to.
So now, a couple of Fifth Doctor and Turlough stories and then it's off to Ancient Egypt...
