In 2011, there was a lot of hope riding on Jon Favreau's hybrid Western, backed by Spielberg and Howard. They certainly didn't want for press or marketing. But then, it sort of fizzled, didn't make much money and got roundley smacked with the 'dissappointment' label.
But is it really as terrible as all that?

It was alright, but the story was focused on events rather than characters, on spectacle over sympathy.
The film was "meh" for me.

I remember finding it very boring when I saw it in the cinema, and let me tell you it is quite hard to bore an 11 year old with a concept as good as that title suggests.

I remember it being a bit of a mess. It's a nice idea and it's been done elsewhere with suitable aplomb (Doctor Who's own Peacemaker does rather well), but here...? Nothing quite clicks. And that's in spite of the "007 meet Indy" choice of casting. Both Craig and Ford have good screen presence and some really nice chemistry, but it feels a lot like it was made by committee.
