So happy it's out but... Do I listen to it now or do I save it for my long haul flight to the nearly opposite end (latitude and longitude) of the US next week? Why not do both? Brilliant.

This set is really great so far. I'd missed this team so much.

Just got done the episodes and have the BTS on now.
What an absolute delight this set is. Paul and Sheridan slip back into the roles like they were never away, the directing, sound design, pacing, writing, and so on were all spot-on. I re-listened to series 1 of the EDAs right before this in anticipation, and these stories fit into the flow of things absolutely perfectly. If I didn't know these stories were from all these years later, I wouldn't have been able to tell.
I have no idea whether a Volume 2 might be coming tomorrow, five years from now, or never at all, but this set right here? Everything I wanted.
EDIT: And in the BTS, Paul comments that he's grateful that the American market expanded after Night of the Doctor, because 'the more of these people buy the more we can make, and hopefully fingers crossed we can do this forever.'
I am SO GLAD to hear this. With the end of both Ravenous and Time War in sight, I'd been worried that perhaps his run with Big Finish was winding down. To hear this in his own words is so reassuring!

Listened to The Dalek Trap
The downside: It felt as though the story took a long time to get started.
The upside: The action snowballs to a climax that pays off for the knowledgeable and attentive Whovian.
The bonus: Paul McGann sings.
The cherry on top: Lucie introduces herself to the Daleks, and they take her introduction at face value.

Otherwise- the first episode is one of those you have to listen to again when you know how everything comes together... I picked up on a subtle audio cue that (for me at least) snapped everything into place with a shock. Good sound design adds much to a story.

I'm only half and hour into The Dalek Trap so I'm avoiding reading too much, but I am so happy to have this team back. So happy that when the episode started with Lucie recording her diary I cried. Then I went back to listen to it again and laughed. Ah, the emotions!

Oh, I have never been worried about that lately. McGann must be one of the most popular, if not THE most popular Doctor at Big Finish. He certainly makes a great poster child (Squee!). Plus, he has completely changed his approach and now really embraces the whole thing and takes charge. Remember the old interviews with him where it appeared as if he was a random person had wandered in and was a bit lost about what was going on?
Nah, the 8th Doctor winding down would be like a fish and chip store closing at lunchtime. Although, having lived in NZ, I have certainly found a couple of those. I assume they have since then been bought up by some Asian take-aways or something.
I bet the reason why we have not heard any further plans with the 8th Doctor is that they have planned something MAJOR. And they do not want to spoil the surprise. I am sure there will be plenty of 8th Doctor stuff next year, however maybe not as much as there has been this year. Sigh. Can't have everything.

Maybe this time not while enjoying the sunshine in the park outside (hard to make out any subtle audio cues there ).

The Revolution Game- weeelll... we were bound to get one of these stories. I am aware that Doctor Who has always been close to a certain political spectrum and I am NOT necessarily with the opposing faction (in fact, due to my up-bringing, this is one of the reasons I like it). But this could not have been more openly a message for this way of thinking if Lucie and the 8th Doctor concluded the day to have tea and scones with Rosa Luxemburg. (Oh, there is an idea. An interesting revolutionary historical female figure which we have not visited so far. I am sure we will meet her sooner or later. ) I am pretty sure the critics will call this story out for that- the political message was just a bit too much in the face for my taste. Apart from that- I enjoyed the action sequences and although the gladiatorial arena scenes were nothing really new, they were fresh enough to keep it interesting. And the music continues to shine.

Paul McGann sings.......... please not another musical story i loathed the Pirates . It's not an entire musical story, just an instance of the Doctor singing to himself in the Tardis while he's busy.

Hey friendly question. Why do you not like musicals? Well I've lived for 44 years & never have i seen somebody just break into a song Just don't like em, i find them strangely irritating. Maybe the next time i do the shopping I'll break into song in isle 6 & see what happens next . It doesn't go full Singin' In The Rain but certainly in my work we sing all the time, one person will just quietly start and we'll join in. What happens next, as you ask, is you have fun and people bond firm and fast. It went from an office thing to monthly team trips to the curry-oke And you should sing in places like Supermarkets - it's much more depressing than this world where people seem to want to avoid eye contact with others for fear of missing something on their phone. FWIW my mother is the same - can't handle films where people burst into song unless they're doing it in narrative, on stage etc. So she could handle a Bohemian Rhapsody for example as the singing is all happening for "real" but she can't get her head round why Jean Valjean needs to sing that he stole some bread in Les Mis, rather than just say he did. Different strokes for different folks, to quote Sly Stone.
