I'm looking for something to listen to BF audio plays on.
It needs to fulfil the following criteria
Simple to use Easy to download to Support Bluetooth Portable Cheap
I want this so that I can easily listen to audio plays in my bed, on prolonged ambulance journeys, in hospital and in my living room.
Any ideas?

What about a second hand IPod ~Jason? Battery life isn’t great but am able with mines to walk for a few hours and not run out of juice. In the hospital at least you can plug in and our hospital does have patient free wifi

It's been years since I had any dealings with that program, but I really didn't like it at all, and I'm not sure it could run on my computer (I use a linux desktop).

I think just to set up the iPod thats all.But once up and running you can download the Big Finish App and with hospital WiFi you can download episodes and delete so you do not have to run out of memory.I use and iPod and IPad with the iPad i set up right away without logging onto a computer. It actually has more memory than my laptop. But I see cheap iPods all the time when am out and about shopping a lot of our patients use them to distract during procedures

Was hoping more people would reply, get some alternative options to look at.

Would you prefer to download on the computer, then drag and drop files onto the device?

Bluetooth for headphones, but I may buy a Bluetooth wireless speaker too.

Hmmm. Uniting all three criteria you are looking for is tricky. I myself actually use 3 different listening devices exactly for that reason. I have a 30 Euro cheap no- brand MP3 player with a plug for a micro-SD for storage expansion. Has very good battery life and with good headphones has quite a good sound. It is just a pain to select files on it because you have to click through them one by one which is very tedious. Then I have my old trusty 10 year old iPod which still has the eternal battery life but has the downside that you need iTunes. iTunes has improved A LOT in the past years, but it remains a fact that it is DRM. And sometimes the installation on the computer corrupts and short of changing the hard-drive (which I had to do recently because it broke) nothing can get it working again. And no, Linux does not really talk to iTunes (because I have a netbook with Linux and it does not work). And then I have my smartphone (cheap, Chinese model) with lots of SD-card space for my audios and music and all the listening Apps. But Battery life is typical for Smartphones and short of switching the thing in flight mode to save on battery power, it is not really useful for long-term listening.
Sorry that I also do not have the once-size-fits all solution I am afraid.

Hello again.
It is a conundrum. In the days before smartphones, l had a basic mp3 player with a screen and used to buy, download to Linux pc and transfer across.
My preferred method these days is a cheap basic android smartphone where you can download the stories using the Big Finish app. It works pretty well though you need to download using home broadband really.
You can also transfer files from PC onto it, though it is a while since I have done this due to ongoing PC problems. Best wishes Jason I hope you find the right solution for you.

Hi buddy........
Weighing everything up.......you would be best getting an mid range android, 7” tablet......
It would be fine for blue tooth, you can download the big finish app, bbc etc and you should be able to get a generic player which could play mp3 using files from a memory card......
Also going forward larger controls and touch screen are easier to use........
And off course you could also use it to watch catch up stuff too.......
Wishing you all the best buddy.......

So something like this Huawei MediaPad T3 7" Tablet? I already own an Amazon Fire Tablet, and use it a lot, but it doesn't run the BF app and is locked down such that I've found it pain to do anything Amazon haven't already decided they'd like me to do.

Hello again.
Yep, definitely android tablet. Kindles good for some things but refuse to play nicely with Google. Though I have transferred files across from PC and played them on vlc player but go for android it is very flexible. The sweetie names for each iteration always make me laugh.

I'll echo what everyone's saying - get an Android tablet (or just a cheapo phone) that can handle a 32 to 64GB SD card. Just look for anything that advertises a long battery life, considering you don't care about megapixels in a camera, screen size, bells and whistles, etc. Even processing power won't make a huge difference if you're just listening and maybe browsing a bit - everything nowadays is powerful enough for that.

OK well, got an Android Tablet, and a Bluetooth speaker, and I'm pleasantly pleased with the sound quality.
Not impressed that the tablet software keeps thinking its a phone.
Listening to my first BF audio on it right now (first on it, not my first).
