What other “famous Doctor Who stories” do we think they’ll use?
I think one set after The Day of the Doctor dealing with Kate, Osgood and the Zygon treaty would be really good. It seems like The Web of Fear and he Great Intelligence will be one, based on an actors CV listing.
Maybe not as famous, but post-The Doctor Falls with Nardole and the Cybermen has a lot of potential, I think.

Concept sounds fun. Though I do hope River has some adventures that doesn't involve much Who elements at some point, one of the main things I enjoyed about Series 4 was her (briefly) having her own unique supporting cast of characters. Yes I agree but will get to preorder I think I have a full year of listening material now

Maybe River will cover the couple of day's gap of An Unearthly Child/Remembrance of the Daleks?

I think they have proved River can stand on her own two feet she doesn’t need the constant Doctors I would love to see her go off on her own and do a Bennie she can go to a story pinch Doctors Tardis for a bit get it back in time for his adventure finishing

(Now Remembrance I agree doesn't have to stick to that date "French Book in Science Lab" notwithstanding)

To be MASSIVELY geeky John there is absolutely a reason to assume that it is taking place November '63 - if you accept BF continuity. Which, on this forum, I think most will: "Those Left Behind" from the "How the Doctor Changed My Life" Short Trips anthology is set November 23rd 1963 with the Fourth Doctor and K9 as the day after he left Earth in An Unearthly Child. And also from the Short Trip series - "A Long Night" from the "Companions" anthology is set a year to the day from 23rd November 1963 and is told from Barbara's mum's POV.

I love the Short Trip Anthologies and they're a very, very underrated slice of BF Who. Teach Yourself Ballroom Dancing by Rob Shearman from ST: The Muses is one of my favourite Who stories in any medium.

Nice to have confirmation of two new series; I’ve loved the four series. I think putting River into some of the most popular stories is quite a novel idea, but I must admit I’m desperate for River without any Who elements. Or putting her with characters we know she has partnerships with; Library crew, Nardole, or even Brian! Maybe Series 7 will bring us something like that. Very strongly agreed on both points; I would add Rory to your list. Rory, River and Brian would be absolutely fabulous
I have to say, on another note, I have very mixed feelings about revisiting Talons of Weng Chiang. I enjoyed that serial as a well-paced sci-fi romp, but... it's so racist... I'm glad we got Jago and Lightfoot out of it, but otherwise I personally wish Big Finish would leave it alone.

Well, it would be a great way of making a non-racist pre/ sequel. It would be a great tribute for the anniversary next year. And I am sure Big Finish could pull it off.

Though it isn’t the characters that are the racist part of it, it’s the portrayal, and so it seems that BF is rectifying that.

You had to go and do it didn't you? So far I've managed to resist the Diaries of River Song, despite appearances from the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth Doctors, the imminent arrival of four variations of the Master and even Madame Kovarian being thrown in for good measure back in Series three.
But you couldn't leave it there could you? Nnnoooo..you had to plan a prequel episode to the Talons of Weng Chiang* didn't you? And dash my optics you had to include Henry Gordon Jago didn't you? Corks!
And you know what this means? It means my resistance is finally broken. It means I'm going to have to pre-order both series six and series seven now! And as there will be an annoying gap on my download list I'm going to have to pre-order series five eventually! And buy in Series one thru four as well! My backlog will increase considerably! And it'll take me ages to stop typing sentences with exclamation marks!
I hope you are satisfied with yourselves Big Finish!😝😝😝

This sounds like a fun idea that this series could potentially dip back into periodically. Looking forward to hearing River and Jago together, that should be highly enjoyable.

I do think, respectfully, there are examples of several characters - including the Doctor - displaying racist behaviour in that serial... it's uncomfortable. I accept Talons is a product of its time so I don't want to condemn anyone involved for mistakes they didn't understand they were making, but I do have misgivings about Big Finish revisiting it. We'll see what they do with it, maybe they'll surprise me and address the racism head-on in a respectful, meaningful way?

I wonder what other two stories they'll be revisiting. We've got a Second Doctor "present day" story and a Fourth Doctor pseudo-historical... Maybe a pure historical and a future story? The Myth Makers would be a cool choice, with River visiting Vicki in the moments after the story ends? As for a future story, Vengeance on Varos? I feel like that's a world that could be revisited easily - and obviously Sil has been back with BF before!

I think with how they previously have revisited Talons, we should be fine. I do think that Big Finish will handle the subject matter with the upmost respect and I wouldn’t mind them tackling the racism like you said in a meaningful way.
