I've been waiting for Doctor Who to tackle the Civil Rights Movement. I assume it isn't taught in history in British schools so I'm not sure how much people know about the civil rights movement. This is such an important event in American history. It was my GCSE history coursework and I had a friend who had 20% of her A level based on it, it definitely is taught here, although not until you're at the back end of education.

“Rosa” “Montgomery, Alabama. 1955. The Doctor and her friends find themselves in the Deep South of America. As they encounter a seamstress by the name of Rosa Parks, they begin to wonder whether someone is attempting to change history.” It could be a tease because there are several ways to read 'change history' - the 'aliens/timey-wimey' one that I guess most viewers will expect (who don't remember the pure historicals) but why not the simple, human sense of the phrase as it's used every day?
That's what actually happened - people changed history.
I do hope they play this as a pure historical without any science-fiction elements apart from the Doctor and friends.

Speaking of touchy subjects that should be taken seriously, everyone remember the time Rory locked Hitler in a cupboard? Gotta love Steven Moffat, allowing for the glorification of Churchill and treating Hitler like comic relief was 100% definitely and totally unambiguously the right thing to do in his position.

Was hoping for a pure historical as don't know about this period. Even though trailer doesn't look like that still hoping to learn from the episode.

So basically the villain of the episode is a time-travelling Alt-Righter. That won't cause any fuss...

But best not to forget that they're not just nutters; they're violent, armed nutters.

I think it would be very interesting if Rosa Parks was just a background character going about her life while the Doctor and co. are stopping things from going around.

Well, the new Radio Times - despite having DW on the cover and a big article about the show - are not impressed by this episode. They say so. Twice.

I’m a little wary of this episode, given that it’s apparently about a time-travelling racist, but given that the co-writer and the director are PoC, I’m hoping that it’ll be handled tastefully.

Just read a bit of dialogue between Ryan and Yas from the EP on the Mirror website and its provocative (particularly for the Episode's timeslot)

I think I should quantify fitz' remarks: in the two very short snippets, RT didn't hate the episode or post a negative review. Rather, they were found it 'teachy' and wondered if kids would be entertained with no monsters.
